Typical Japanese business chain hotel with rooms on the small side but certainly manageable as a solo traveller. Beds are slightly on firm side but ok for a few nights I suppose. Is my goto in Tokyo with monorail station to Haneda airport only a 5 minute walk away. Time it right and it can be a mere 20mins from being landside at airport to being at hotel, likewise only 20mins to Tokyo via transfer at Hamamsutcho. Just ¥350 from T3. Worth considering monorail day pass if travelling from T1/T2 (¥500) and going onto Hamamsutcho (¥200). Free breakfast is decent, as evident by crowds and queues in dining area. Microwave available if you've got some pre-prepared food (supermarket and convenience stores
Read moreI have booked this place for almost 4 times already in past 3-4 years. This Toyoko-inn is just like other Toyoko-inn chain; clean, spacious room, super comfy bed, nice simple and free breakfast, and great service - all come in worthy price.
However, the only inconvenient thing about this branch is that you cannot walk from Shinagawa station directly to this hotel, it is way too far, but you can take free shuttle bus from hotel via shinagawa station. They come every 15 minutes. But they offer service during morning time before check-out (around 10:30 AM.) which they only send you to station but won't take you to hotel if you are at Shinagawa station. After 10:30 AM, they stop the service, and continue again around 03:00 PM. which they can take you to/from Shinagawa station to hotel.
Around hotel, there are few restaurants nearby. No big malls or fancy shopping area around. But there is a small AEON supermarket you can go to, they close late at night.
However, I just discovered that staying here doesn't need to go to Shinagawa station everytime I want to explore Tokyo's main spot areas, instead I can walk in a short distance of 2-3 minutes to Tennozu-Isle station (via priviate company: Rinkai line) and I could go directly to Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Ikebukuro without changing of trains! How convenient! But it costs pretty much though (around 430 yen per trip). Moreover, if you want to visit Odaiba often, this Rinkai route is...
Read moreWe stayed here for a few days at the start of our holiday. There was no communication about the bus that went to Shinagawa Station and where to get it from so we took public transport to get to the hotel. Entry was via the garage and a lot of construction. Once inside the checkin process was mostly easy. We booked two rooms and I didn't match the passports on the checkin so they had to come change / fix it. We got two rooms close to each other on the top floor. The views would hae been great except for all the construction boarding around the area. The rooms were very small and the beds very hard. The pillows even harder. ||Once we got over that the shuttle to the station and back was a life saver and used very often. The breakfasts included were okay. They often ran out of food and you had to wait a while for the next batch to arrive. The choice was pretty limited, but we found something every day. ||Overall not bad, not brilliant, but worked for us. The ice cream machine downstairs doesn't come with anything to eat it with (stick, spoon) but the drinks were nice and the 7-11 around the corner was very useful.||Checkout was seamless - Keep all your cards as you need to...
