(This review is based on the experience as a foreign traveler capable of speaking Japanese)
Stayed December 2nd9th, 2014.
Simply put, excellent value for the price.
Location is fantastic: Haneda Airport, Tokyo Station, Shibuya Area, Odaiba Area are all reachable in about 2030 minutes. Also the neighborhood was great, as it is located in residential area, not commercial area like most business hotels. All kinds of stores and restaurants and facilities were there, and I could just walk around the street and see local people's everyday life. I visited the Yakitori restaurant right next to the guesthouse twice because it was so easy to get there. Distance counts when tired, and travelers are usually tired.
Room is very small. Door and lock worked well. Heater (which also function as air-conditioner) worked well. But I wished there were some additional clothes hangers on the wall. Shower room looked fine, but I didn't use it because there was a nice public bath at about 10 minutes walk. Another advantage, as there are not so many public baths around Tokyo anymore.
Staffs are perfectly helpful. Eager to support and give advice to everybody. There were many foreign travelers, and it seemed that people could make friends with each other. I didn't bother as I am sort of socially awkward. But it would definitely be an advantage to some people.
So I highly recommend this guest house to everybody who wants to: save money by enduring rather uncomfortably small room. closely experience local people's life. visit many places in Tokyo efficiently, not to mention the airport. have a chance to speak to foreign travelers and do something more,...
Read moreAwesome place! The guest house is located roughly 10 minutes walking from Shinagawa station. If you come from Narita, you don't need to transfer at all (ask the JR staff at the airport). Next to the guest house is also Kitashinagawa station (2 minutes walking). The guide how to get to the guest house is on their Web. Now, if you look into a map, you may think that Shinagawa is too far away from Tokyo. Wrong! Without or with just one transfer, you'll get to Akihabara, Shinjuku or other famous places in matter of minutes (roughly 30)
The guest guest house has nice atmosphere, although my busy schedule didn't allow me to enjoy it fully. The staff is nice and they all (or at least those who I've met) speak English fluently. There was no problem understanding each other. The prices are awesome and the place is clean. It's nothing as I've ever been to in such cheap place in Japan. No mold, funky smell, noisy area,... Just awesome! The single room I've been to was bigger than expected, although with the bed, i couldn't open my suitcase fully. There was no noise or noisy travelers, as the hostel applies quiet time after 22:00. The room was quipped with air-conditioning / heater. Doors can be locked from inside.
The staff provides lots of brochures and informations if needed. In the surrounding area are quite a few restaurants. Two actualy next door to the guest house. Family Mart is also next door (ok, two doors ^^).
I can definitely recommend this place and next time, I'll be...

The staff is friendly and can speak English fairly sufficient. The guestrooms are quiet and neat but rather small, most suitable for solos. The bathrooms are shared but hang on a sec, they are kept very clean. There is a common room and they offer free snacks and coffee there. The place offers a coin laundry facility (very old machine, requires upgrading).
Absolutely convenient location. There's a 24hr convenient shop adjacent and another larger supermarket nearby, numerous bars and restaurants dotted along the street. Most important to highlight is the fact that the place is very close to Shinagawa station. Shinagawa Station is one of the principal transportation hubs of Tokyo. The station connects many lines, including the Yamanote Line and the Tokaido Shinkansen. Direct train connections to both Haneda Airport and Narita Airport are provided by Keikyu Railways and the Narita Express, respectively. In effect, Shinagawa Station is a convenient place of departure for a great number of destinations.
About the environs, Shinagawa is a bustling bayside area known for Tennozu Isle, a skyscraper complex with a boardwalk, shops, a stylish brewpub and restaurants overlooking the water. Traditional sites include the elegant Sengaku-ji Temple, with the graves of 47 samurai from the 18th century. Colorful bridges span the cherry tree-lined Meguro River, while Shinagawa Park has picnic spots and...
