I stayed here with my wife, son, and her 2 parents. We shared a large room that had a beds in a bedroom and we stayed in the main room on a futon. The room easily slept us all comfortably. The room was large and had its own private onsen bath. It was very relaxing spending time in it in the crisp winter air. With our stay it included breakfast and dinner. The first night was a seafood course and the second night was a meat course. We got a sea and land package. Both dinners were excellent. Breakfast was standard Japanese breakfast of miso, rice, pickles, salad, fruit, and fish. A lady came to our room during the afternoon and served us tea and snacks as well. Very interesting experience. I would recommend this to any traveler wanting to get the Japanese ryokan experience. Finally, the main reason we stayed here was for the onsen. Was excellent. Not only is there a personal one overlooking Yufudake mountain, but they had one you can reserve that is larger and can fit two or more people. The one you reserve had two tubs. Hot and scolding Hot. I could barely dip my feet in for only a few seconds. Not sure how anyone could...
Read moreWe took a long walk from the railway to Kanputei but it was worthful. ||||The environment of Kanputei was quiet as it only had around 5-6 guest rooms and it mainly served local people. ||||Our room was spacious with private onset. The view from the onset was great. We might have a much greater view from our room if the flowers come into bloom. ||||It also offered dinner and breakfast in traditional style. The portion was big which we could not finish. It is better for you to inform the receptionist to reduce the amount of food if you do not have a big stomach.||||As Kanputei mainly served local people, the receptionists were not good at English. But all of them were very nice and cute. They tried their best to explain everything to us. I would give them "Like"x100000000 to praise...
Read moreWhen you think of Yufuin, you'd undoubtedly think about the hustle and bustle of the shopping street, but the moment you turn into the alley where this ryokan is located, it quietens down. It's a beautifully-renovated ryokan - traditional on the outside, but modern and luxurious on the inside. A nice private onsen sits in each of the 6 rooms of the ryokan, but there is a private outdoor one too. A nice addition to that would be the outdoor foot onsen that is accompanied by a beer dispenser. I thoroughly enjoyed both the dinner and breakfast. The bungo beef was one of the best I've eaten, and so were the sashimi, grilled fish, and tofu. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made the stay...
