An awful experience here, we have booked a house with two beds and breakfast which is over HKD 2k per night. We have assigned House 16 and it is a nightmare.1. Water in the bathroom was clogged and we need to wait for 10 minutes for action and another 20 minutes for fixing. Finally some dark stuff just like the size of a bowl of rice was found inbthe ditch.2. Electricity was broken in one early morning before 6 am and nobody in the reception counter. I had kept knocking the door for a while and finally he fixed it with several trials.3. The house is close to the main entrance of the hotel, next to a road and adjacent to the public onsen and toilets of the hotel, it is noisy and with bad smell.4. The headboard is right next to the door of the public toilet and it is hard to have a peaceful sleep at night.5. breakfast for day 1 and 2 is ok but for day 3, it is a nightmare. Breakfast has been late for 10 minutes and nobody escorted us to the designated table. Main dish is 2 pieces of ham with a little bit of sprouts and butter. Day 1 is dried fish with tofu and eggs, and day 2 is tofu hotpot with eel and egg. Such a big contrast.6. There are 3 water taps in the house, 2 are almost broken and two...
Read moreThey seem to not welcome foreigners. No one can speak English even just a little bit. We do not mind that they cannot speak English as long as the service is good. Unfortnately it is not. While we walk into the hotel, the housekeeper swipes the floor at us. Before dinner, our kid does not know he has to take shoes off so he steps one foot on the stair. The waiter shouts at our kid and uses his feet to wipe the stair. At dinner, the waiter takes a photo of us without telling the reason. We do not want to take photo so we do not look at the camera. He does not seem to happy and told us to take more picture and look at camera. We still don't know why he takes photo of us. For main dishes, he ask what kind of meat we would like...rare, medium, welldone. We are not sure how rare it would be so we ask him. He does not understand our question and does not seem to happy that we ask. So we just order medium and rare to see how difference. When the steak come, we told him to put the main dishes on the table and we can pass food to everyone on the table. He slam the dishes on the table heavily and his hand touches one of our dishes and do not apologize at all. This is not Japanese service we receive...

Our stay at Oyado Yufuin-tei in Yufuin was fantastic!
Room: 5/5 - Spacious and well-appointed with excellent amenities. The private onsen was a highlight, clean and relaxing with a TV.
Dinner: 5/5 - The highlight was the delicious Nagasaki beef, and the overall quality of the meal was exceptional.
Breakfast: 5/5 - Traditional Japanese breakfast with a highlight of grilled fish.
The onsen experience at Oyado Yufuin-tei was a mixed bag.
Private Onsen: Conveniently located in our room, providing a relaxing experience.
Public Onsen: Available, but it's an outdoor bath. The catch: the shower area is also outdoors. While it wasn't an issue during summer, it might be quite chilly during winter months!
Overall, a great onsen experience, but worth considering the outdoor shower setup if planning a winter visit.
However, we would have liked to see a bit more variety in the breakfast options or some additional amenities. Nonetheless, Oyado Yufuin-tei exceeded our expectations in many ways, and we would highly recommend it to...
