Room: clean, spacious, paid for mountain view but got a view of the parking lot.
Location: At least 12minutes uphill from the station on foot.
Service: The staff are FLAWLESS and AMAZING and deserve recognition. However, there are some management policies that cause problems.
Firstly, the hotel gives the impression that it serves breakfast (photos of breakfast buffet on the homepage). In fact, there is no such option. Secondly, there is outdated information on a shuttle bus pick-up from the station to the hotel. In fact, it has been terminated. Finally - this is my BIGGEST headache - is their policy on luggage storage which is not mentioned anywhere online. They only keep your bags from check-out till 2pm on the same day. This is extremely inconvenient to travellers who have to rush back in the middle of the day to claim their bags or have a train ride scheduled for later in the day. For myself, I had planned to hike Mt Yufu in the morning of checkout and possibly return at 3-4pm and catch the train back to Hakata at 5pm. The hotel policy either meant I had to cancel my hike and return to the hotel at 2pm to claim by bags or carry all my stuff to the station early and pay around $50 for lockers. [Lockers are very expensive in Yufuin] In the end, my best option was to sit in the hotel lounge from 2pm for nearly 3hours before wheeling my luggage to the station. Honestly, the hotel is beyond spacious, so they can reasonably keep bags without any hassle.
Otherwise, the room is lovely, and the staff...
Read moreAs their name says it, 秀峰,has magnificent view of the surrounding mountains especially of Mount Yufu. We were very fortunate to get a mountain view room. Very good value because the room is big with separate toilet, bathroom with bathtub and wash basin areas. Men and women Kose face wash and moisturising lotions provided. The ventilation in the toilet can be better. There is even a small indoor balcony area where you can sit and enjoy the view. Yukata is provided for adults for onsen use. There is also a small foot bath outside the hotel. The booking also comes with 2 set meal dinner consisting of ramen of your choice and sides of fried rice and gyozas for 2 adults at the hotel's ramen restaurant. Enough to share with 2 children and there is free flow hot tea and water.
The location is slightly further from the train and bus stations so it can be tiring to walk to and fro with young children and luggage. Walking to the train station takes about 10 minutes - just one straight road all the way and there are AEON supermarket, Daiso and cafes along the way.
You can go early to leave luggage. The staff are very helpful and thoughtful, they even prepared a little packet of sweets and thank you and post cards of 4 seasons in Yufuin when we checked out. They also provide umbrellas for...
Read moreVery nice well kept traditional ryokan. If you are expecting modern do not stay here. Hotels like these are older and have been around for many years but are well maintained. I love sleeping on tatami - I slept for 10 hours! Unfortunately I felt a bit dumbfounded when the dinner included is just ramen. On the trip.com photos there are two photos of meals and I assumed one was dinner and the other breakfast. Maybe this use to be the case but trip/ the hotel should specify better what is being served. Especially in small towns there aren’t many dinner options - there is an Aeon (supermarket) a short walk of course if you’d like a bento dinner instead. Also no wifi in the room. As an international traveler I had to up my esim data for the day. They don’t advertise wifi in the room - they have it in the lobby so it wouldn’t be hard to get an extender to the rooms. The onsen was nice however I found the outside onsen made a lot of noise- I’ve been to many onsen and this was the first that ever made noise from the filter so it wasn’t as relaxing as it could have been. Overall decent stay but probably...
