Yufuin Lodge Tabinokura is 15mins by foot from Yufuin Station. But in view it was raining and the sun has set upon our arrival, we had took the tips from other reviewers to get takeaway dinner and took a cab there. Taxi is quite plentiful at the station. The road to the lodge is very dark having to pass by farm lands so not advisable if travelling alone to walk. But if during day time with good weather can be an enjoyable countryside stroll or cycle with free bicycles that can be loaned from the lodge.||||The lodge is very beautifully decorated and guests will feel welcome with the orientation conducted by friendly staff. Free welcome drinks and use of private onsen rooms. Getting food is not really convenient as they only serve breakfast and no other restaurants available within immediate vicinity if you are travelling without a car. But they have a very well equipped kitchen that you may use. If really hungry they offer complimentary cup noodles too.||||We had a twin room with Japanese room, dinning area and private toilet with shower. Very clean and spacious which can easily stay 5 people or so with futon beds spreaded out in the Japanese room.||||Free use of washing machine but would be great if it has drying function too as there was no space where we can dry the laundry and it has been raining non stop for the 3 days we were there.||||Overall, Yufuin Lodge Tabinokura is still a very unique and excellent accommodation choice if you are...
Read moreGood points: location, welcoming lobby and lounge, large room, private hot spring baths, free coffee, friendly staff.
Bad points: very loud fan in the room that said don't turn off, musty smell, the toilet tank was constantly dripping into the bowl, kitchen does not have a frying pan, only an old damaged saucepan, old dirty tablecloth, the door in one of the hot spring baths is damaged and does not slide properly, the pool table is not flat and the balls roll off, the signs about the spring water coming out of a pipe at the bottom of the bath are out of date as it seems to come out of a tap, wooden steps to the bathroom in the room were unstable, wall art was damaged and left unrepaired, bar was just empty bottles.
To me the place gave off the vibe that it was once someone's labour of love that has maybe been sold and is now being run for the easy tourist money but is not being maintained as well as...
