Saya — Hotel in Almaty

Location is great, AC, TV, beds comfy etc. The noise from the nightclubs nearby isn't bad on the 2nd floor, but you can hear other guests. WiFi doesn't work well enough to even download an attachment. The people working are so rude! They don't answer or speak at the desk when you enter and exit, they will claim things like their card reader doesn't work, and every day there was some problem: "your child had a nose bleed, we need to charge you 100,000 tenge to buy new sheets and comforter... ok we'll take $10, 000 in cash to wash it", AC out/not working, bugs in the room, staff knocking on the door at 9pm, then calling at 10pm to check the water(off) in the bathroom isn't leaking to another floor, another "fee" for using a towel!! (they said there was a mark,(I asked where, and they had to call 2 other cleaning people to even find the "mark"). I can understand asking for replacement things if the room is very clean, and something is really broken or damaged, but the room had many marks, dirt, bugs etc and they seemed to want to collect fees (in cash) to supplement the business. Also, every complaint raised was in a rude way. Breakfast is not western style, no coffee, no fruits or vegetables or anything besides essentially meat and bread, and it's mandatory in the rate. I've never felt so unwelcome in a hotel, like they were constantly watching for what else they could collect for fees or problems to create. When I trapped a bug and brought it downstairs, the woman snaps at me "oh it's from your room?" like I planted some giant beetle on my own bed from home. I bought my own towels at the bazaar and didn't use their blankets or anything. The pictures like the dirty pillow are how things were when we arrived. I really wanted to give the benefit of the doubt, as the "outdated" comments from others are reflected in the low price and great location, but I would about this hotel...

Disappointing Stay Despite Convenient Location I recently stayed at SAYA for 5 days. The room was major letdown. I felt outdated and poorly maintained. The bathroom was equally disappointing. During my stay room wasn't cleaned thoroughly and basic amenities like fresh towels and toiletries were only provided after multiple requests. Service was unprofessional and inattentive. The only saving grace of this hotel is it's location. It's conveniently situated within walking distance of several excellent local eateries, convenience stores and cafes.
