Grand Zina — Restaurant in Almaty

I tried Grand Zina and honestly, I expected more considering it’s part of a luxury hotel. The food was average not bad, but nothing special either. Portions were fine, but the presentation and flavors didn’t really stand out.

The service was friendly, but the food was served uncovered on a tray (instead of a proper service trolley), and the cutlery didn’t feel very clean. For a restaurant inside a luxury hotel, these small details make a big difference.

Suggestions for improvement: • Add more variety to the menu, for example different types of pasta where guests can choose the sauce (white or red), vegetables, and seasoning style. • The current menu is international, but it’s mainly written in Russian/Kazakh with small English text. It would be more convenient if the menu included pictures or an online menu with detailed descriptions in multiple languages. This would make ordering easier for guests and also help staff who don’t speak English. • Improve the serving process with covered dishes and proper service trolleys, and ensure newer, cleaner cutlery. • Enhance the overall atmosphere of the restaurant to better match the hotel’s...

This place has the best atmosphere under great trees and their shadows especially in summer, spring and early autumn.

Very central location, just in front of the Almaty Hotel, in front of the opera house.

However here are the things I did not really like: 1.No internet. Can you belive it, you can not sit and make business meeting or online meeting in this beautiful garden and eat at the same time. This is a big NO and must be corrected immediately. 2.English speaking personnel: come on! Maybe in some other cafes and restaurant I can understand that many stuff do not speak English. But this is a place in front of the hotel. Beware. This is not acceptable. 3.There is no plug in at the courtyard or inside that we couldn't charge our devices. Such a minus. 4.High price and not really amazing taste. If I pay that much to a pizza I would expect sth better than Dodo Pizza guys.

If I go there again, I will just grab a tea, enjoy beautiful trees, cool weather and quiet. But that's all.

If you stay at Almaty Hotel, you will come breakfast here. It's not a luxurious breakfast, but it offers a pretty good breakfast. You can use the restaurant service in the evening.
