Staff at Godial’s were very friendly and helpful. They arranged for us to be picked up from the airport and the following day they arranged for someone to take us to the National Museum and to the Giraffe Centre.|The food at the B&B was very good. The chef takes great pride in his food and makes wonderful pizzas from scratch (be warned: they are big!). Breakfast was very tasty, too. A wide range of items could be ordered for breakfast.|Internet worked well throughout the B&B.|While the B&B felt comfortable enough, it did feel a bit tired and a bit unloved. It also wasn’t quite as clean as it could have been (we dropped something under the bed.....). I’m not entirely sure that it is best value for money. |Location wise, it is very easy to find, because it is so close to the Yaya Centre, and everyone seems to know where that is. It isn’t necessarily the easiest place to get to. Going anywhere from there seemed to involve going past State House (which can be slow going) and we seemed to spend a lot of time driving around Kibera (not through, but around). Traffic in Nairobi is just mad. The city seems to be gridlocked most...
Read moreRead moreAfter working and travelling in Africa (including Kenya) for the last 35 years I find Godial's one of the nicest places to stay. Have stayed there solo, with friends, with partner and also several friends and relatives have stayed there over the last 3 years. I find the staff always very friendly, helpful, accomodating and professional. Sadly the cheff was on leave during my last stay, but you can have a decent meal just across the road or at the Yaya centre. I have made several last-minute bookings, overstayed and stored my luggage for weeks. Never, ever there was a problem. My daughter stayed there a few days when she came to Kenya visiting me and she was treathed as a princess. The cheff went the extra mile in meeting her dietary requirements. The location is convenient for shopping, visiting NGOs/Companies in Nairobi and relavtively quick and easy to reach from Jomo and Wilson airport. People complaining about dampness/power cuts..... Don't come to Nairobi! In short: Godial's is one of the best places to stay in Nairobi nice...great value for money ....safe and , as said: a home...
I asked the receptionist (a man) call a taxi for me to go to Giraffe Centre (African Fund for Endangered Wildlife - Kenya). But when I got on the taxi I saw the receptionist got 500 Shillings from the driver. I was confused a little, but didn’t think too much. |After a while, I asked the driver how much money will be spent to go to airport from the lodge. He answered me 30 dollars! I really think it’s too expensive. And it also reminded me what happened just now. |So I asked my guide who was worked in a local travel agency. He replied me it will cost just 10 dollars and show me a screen capture of Uber.|I think I knew the truth: |THE RECEPTIONIST HAD COLLUDED WITH THE TAXI DRIVER TO OVERCHARGE ME!|Quite predictably, the driver asked me pay for 50 dollars when we back to lodge. And always followed me in Giraffe Centre. |Even take my 100 dollars from ticket seller due to she don’t have enough change. When I looking for Shilling in my bag, he take over the 100 dollars and put in his pocket furtively. Very very bad!!!|I thought if I hadn’t asked him in the end, he absolutely won’t give the change to me.|The worst experience in...
