☆ The Experience ☆
After having visited the Kitisuru Branch, I decided to give the Kilimani one a chance and it was okay. The food at Ankole Kilimani was a bit underwhelming, especially the rice which was present in two of our dishes. One of my sisters ordered a dish with mushrooms and chicken while mine had chicken tikka and the only downside was the rice. We also ordered naan which was fluffy but not quite tasty. The wraps were served with huge skin-on fries which were quite filing and super tasty.
The burger was accompanied with fries which were yummy and this was the star meal. I truly enjoyed those fries and I can say were really tasty. I almost ordered an extra plate but I was too full. Regarding the drinks, I would recommend all of them except the cherry coconut pineapple. I didn't enjoy it due to the strong cherry taste which I discovered was not my thing. Their dawa is good, so go ahead try it.
◇ Service ◇
We enjoyed the service though it was slow despite there not being many customers on that day. The drinks came out first, but the food took quite a while. The waiters are kind and patient though. My dad didn't want something heavy and he explained this to the lady serving us who then suggested feasible solutions. Honestly, this was a huge plus for us.
♤ Portions ♤
Ankole gets an A on portions. This was my second time there and I struggled to complete my meal. My siblings were also full and satisfied with their meals that we didn't even have supper that day. You won't go wrong with portions if you choose them both the Kilimani and Kitisuru Branch.
♧ Overall Review ♤
We enjoyed our experience at Ankole Kilimani, that's for sure. I generally appreciate a calm environment when having my meals which is what Ankole offers. We also requested the waiters to take a photo of us as we were celebrating my sister's graduation and she agreed to. I would recommend checking it out and trying out the other...
Read moreThis is an updated review. I have not had an issue with the place until recently when we went for dinner as a family. I have heard stories of people finding cockroaches in their food in restaurants, but I have never experienced it. Until yesterday, when we visited and inside my food, I discovered a cockroach, very dead and looked like it had been cooked with the food. I raised the issue with the supervisor, and all they could do is issue a half arse apology and ask me how I want to deal with it. The apology didn't sound and feel sincere, and no one was open to even giving an explanation. I loved this place, but from this experience, let's just say I am not going to be eating here again. Ankole, do better! One coachroach in client's food it is one too many. This just shows bad kitchen hygiene. While I didn't get to pay for the food and they offered me a desert which honestly for me was in bad taste because how are you offering me a desert after I have a found a cockroach in my food?

Read moreMy recent visit to this restaurant was quite disappointing. Arriving at 9:00 PM, we were hurriedly informed that the kitchen was closing soon, prompting a swift order placement. Unfortunately, the ribeye and T-bone steaks we received within 20 minutes were far from satisfactory—stale, difficult to chew, and unappealing.
Even the vegetable rice, intended as a side, was excessively hard, resembling uncooked grains straight from a supermarket shelf. We raised our concerns with the waiter, who involved the manager. Though an apology was offered and our order remade, the takeaway turned out to be an entirely different and unpalatable assortment of burnt, tasteless beef.
This experience left me feeling not only robbed but also compelled to share my disappointment. While the attempt to rectify the situation was acknowledged, it did not salvage the overall impression. Sadly, I cannot recommend this place based on this regrettable encounter.
I hope this feedback prompts improvements for future patrons seeking a more satisfying...
