The most frustrating service in a restaurant, so far. We asked our waitress if there were any gluten free options like the buckwheat noodle ramen on their menu, she was blank, then she said we could try the wok fried noodles cos buckwheat has wheat ?! We asked if it was gluten free she said it's eggless so yes 😐We went around in circles like this, then someone else was sent to our table and he told us we could order eggless noodles when I asked fi they were gluten free he said you can order the soy noodles instead, we decided to order the rice cos we realized there was none who knew what we were talking about. They'd never heard of the word 'gluten'. Training staff can't be so difficult.
Our waitress was really the slowest, all the nearby tables got their food faster, and we were waiting endlessly then she brought the sushi and when we asked if we could have soy sauce with it, she didn't bring it for another 20 minutes by then we finished the sushi cos there was no other food on the table and we had been waiting endlessly, the soy was so watery, no clue why, and she splashed it all over our table while pouring it, even though there was no sushi to go with it. Finally she'd forgotten to order my sons kimchi fried rice and we were so tired of waiting we said its OK and we left.
The standout foods were the spicy tuna rolls, the kimchi friend rice and the chicken firecracker. The chicken yakitori was a disaster and the schezuan pepper chicken was just about tolerable. The soy being so watery was just bizarre. It was as if they ran out of soy sauce and poured water in it.
If you're looking for a good meal with good service, go to Onza one floor below. Meso was a real disappointment for us, they need to scale their service up to match their projected...
Read moreEdited (5th August) We visited again and tried to order the same dishes. The waiter (John) told us that few of the dishes which we had previously ordered few months ago had egg and it won't be possible to make without it. Lydia, the waitress who had attended us few months ago, had told us that all those dishes and sauces are egg free. Not sure whom to beleive. We left without ordering anything. Meso needs to train their waiters and tell them exactly what all goes into a dish. Not visiting again.
John also first said that he would call the chef and we can ask him directly. But after some time he said that the "chef is busy". Poor Customer service.
Original Review Meso is a superb Asian restaurant with delicious food and fast service. The ambiance is pleasant, creating a nice dining experience.
We tried the Kimchee & Cheese Korokke, Philadelphia Cream Cheese Dumpling, and Shimeji & Asparagus Tempura Sushi Roll, all of which were excellent. There are plenty of vegetarian options to choose from, making it hard to decide.
We also enjoyed the Sayonara Mocktail and Thai Ginger Mocktail, which were refreshing additions to our meal.
Overall, Meso is a must-visit for its amazing food, speedy service, and great atmosphere. Highly...
Read moreGood intention but underwhelming and overpriced. Would steer clear of the cocktails; overly sweet and mostly taste very similar. Lots of the items on the menu, both food and drinks, were out of stock when we dined here. This is including local beers. The space promises a fine dining experience but fails to deliver. Lots of potential that just doesnt live up to expectations. I hope the team can take this feedback into consideration as they work towards improving the customer experience.
For now, there are plenty of other options in Nairobi that offer better value at the same, or lower,...
