Avoid this place like the plague. This was hands down the worst travel experience of our lives, and we’re seasoned travelers who’ve stayed in all kinds of places. Nothing could have prepared us for the level of discomfort, hostility, and filth we encountered here.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was tense and unpleasant. The hostel was overrun by middle-aged, Russian-speaking men who were aggressive, territorial, and made it crystal clear that we, as Western travelers, were not welcome. They imposed bizarre rules in the shared room, acted like they owned the space, and became hostile when we didn’t obey. It escalated so badly that the police had to be involved. Actual threats were made. We felt unsafe, truly unsafe, and decided to leave immediately.
Staff were completely useless, and the owner was by far the rudest and most arrogant man we’ve dealt with on the road. He barely spoke English, refused to listen, showed no concern for our safety, and clearly cared only about getting every possible cent. When we explained why we were leaving early, he refused to refund even half of what we paid for the unused night. Instead, he tossed back a tiny, insulting fraction, just to be petty. No apology, no concern, nothing. Just cold indifference.
The condition of the hostel itself is beyond disgraceful. The place reeks, an unbearable, moldy, unwashed stench that hits you the moment you step in. The underground rooms resemble a shelter in crisis: damp walls, dirty floors, broken furniture, and a suffocating atmosphere. We’ve stayed in budget hostels before, but this was borderline inhumane.
To make things worse, the location is next to the airport and railway, which means constant noise day and night, no chance of real rest even if everything else were fine (which it absolutely wasn’t). We ended up sleeping on the street our last night just to escape. That’s how bad it was. And somehow, we genuinely felt safer outside on the pavement than inside that place.
This isn’t just a bad hostel. It’s a dangerous, unsanitary, and deeply mismanaged place that shouldn’t be operating. Do yourself a favor, don’t even consider it. Camp in your car, sleep at the airport, walk all night, literally anything is better.
Having to leave 1 star feels criminal, if possible I’d leave a...
Read moreFor the price, this stay was a great bargain. Since I am not yet ready to dive in to the hostel experience of a shared room, I opted for a private twin room with a shared bathroom for 26 euros. I was pleasantly surprised to find they had upgraded me to a private twin room with a private bathroom at no additional charge upon check-in. They take cash which is also a bonus in my book.
The room itself was about as clean as I would expect at this level of hospitalling in this region - just a few minour things like holes and old stains on some of the linen. That might put some very neat freaks off, though, so be warned. The mattress itself was otherwise adequate - not luxurious, but not better-off-sleeping-on-the-floor quality.
Bathroom was clean though unusually cold compared to the rest of the room, so just leave the door open and let it warm up with the heater in the main room. The room came with its own kitchenette, but I did not make use of the appliances (water heater, microwave, and fridge) while there so that I cannot say anything about how well they work. It was anyways also largely clean except for some water stains on the drinking glasses provided.
One of the big drawbacks to the experience is that it is situated right next to the train tracks, so that if you do mind noise and you don't have earplugs on hand, you likely won't get a very restful night. I fortunately travel with ear plugs, though, so that didn't bother me. And on the plus side, the bus station and train station are only a couple blocks away, so the location is good for getting where you need to easily. Overall, I would stay here again if I am...
Read moreThis hostel has a huge potential, great location, spacious indoor spaces, separate building with individual rooms, well equipped common kitchen- the individual kitchenettes are provided with basic utensils and equipment to. Heated floors in the bathroom, relatively new beds and mattresses. Sadly it's all overshadowed by cleanliness standards, actually the lack of it. The overwhelming stench knocks U down once U open the doors, old sweat and cigarettes. Stained walls, mattress covers, sticky kitchen equipment, clogged drainage in the shower, rusty racks and handles, some hair under the shower and on the floor. Dirt and filth. There's no excuse for lack of hygiene and sanitary standards, so do not think "u get what U pay for".Had to clean it before I even sat on anything. Luckily the duvet cover and pillowcases were clean despite being worn out. Service and staff - very neutral, some speak English, some don't. If U plan only to sleep here and maybe have a quick brekkie before u go- it's ok, otherwise look for some...
