I am a "senior (over 70), solo, budget traveler" and I really enjoyed my stay here.|Reminder this is a "Lodge" and not a "Hotel" so don't go expecting "fluffy white towels, free bottled water, complimentary toiletries, tea & coffee options or a breakfast room"! I had a room on 1st floor (there is no Lift) which was quiet and smoke-free.|The Reception is available 24/7 and has a myriad of fascinating antiques and curios to peruse. I found the young Gabriella incredibly helpful with activity and food suggestions and with assisting me with transport needs ( I don't have Internet to access Grab transport).|To me, it's all about LOCATION, right opposite the waterfront where every night is a full-on food, music and light show. Strolling along the promenade was my nightly indulgence, but I could also use either of the balconies at the lodge to sit and peruse the activities if I was tired or there was a 'down-pour'.|Immediately next door is a 7/11 which is open 24/7 for hot & cold food and drink options. I went down every morning for my first coffee (cost 3.50RM which is less than $1.50 AUS). For my daily breakfast, I went to RAW Juicery @ The Ranee Hotel (5 doors down heading to left from the Lodge) for fresh juice, Acai Bowl and coffee. They are a Vegan Restaurant offering Brunch & Diner options. They open at 7am.|The Ranee Hotel itself offers bookings for Tours and Attractions.|The Lodge is very close to the Information Centre (walk left) and is a short stroll away from Chinatown (Harmony Walk) and India Street and a large shopping mall.|Indulged in massage from the Blind Massage Centre on 2nd floor of this mall and had my Hair washed (40RM) and Nails done !|Can't recommend this accommodation enough and felt it was good value for money.|If you want 'luxuries' though, go elsewhere and...
Read moreWe stay here almost twice a year I love the location so easy to wondering around down town if you traveling with family or alone. But the only few thing that does not satisfy me. The worker's playing so much drama about what and who did wrong with list of people's bookings and they talk bad about each other to a guest and mess up all they guess has booked and blamed it through where you booked your room and so on. they are messed up and not professional at all. Still couldn't find it my name. We had booked our room for a month ago and they messed up my booking they gives me the dorm I paid for rm145 for F... dorm room is bad Paip licking, the bed is broken. No window bed air. The worker's just not professional enough she or he keep saying that my stuff my stuff like he or she the ladyboy is the owner of this place 🙄 What we want is just to do your job right. No need to pretending like you are the owner. And when people booked your place, just do ask for diposit or they name or they contact number for registration or registration fee or something not just say yes yes yes.. how stupid it is. We hope the owner...
Read moreThe Lodge was a great place to locate during our stay in Borneo during November/December 2018. Arshad, Abu, Mary, Zack and Zienon were friendly and helpful night or day, whatever the hour. When we traveled overnight or several days to national parks and wildlife refuges our extra baggage was stored under lock and key while we were away, making our excursions so much easier.
We stayed in multiple rooms, but our favorite was Room 214, centrally located. There are festive events and activities on the waterfront and an all-night open air restaurant behind the Lodge and Room 214 insulated us to a good degree from the reveries. Returning from excursions away from Kuching we welcomed the ability to...
