Nyan Shin Cafe — Restaurant in Sarawak

An old establishment with probably 3 generations managing at current location.

My father was eating their bowl of noodles during pre-war days when he was a kid! There was no store back then!

Handmade egg noodles with different toppings! Minced chicken or ground pork are two of my favorites.

Dry wonton (kiaw as in local Hokkien ) to pair with bowl of noodles! There are other noodles like beehoon, lao shu feng are also available.

A small secret is one can order complimentary soup on the side.

The store opens as early as 6:00 am and will close around 10:30 am - 11:00 am depending how busy they were that particular day! Get there early!

There are other locations too (ABC Center, 3rd Mile Market and kopitiam behind KWSB) run by different relatives (I assume)!

Parking around Carpenter or China St might be a challenge during normal daytime. Parking during early morning is no issue. I suggest parking at Merdeka Plaza parking structure and walk...

This place is the reason i will come back to Kuching again.

Mutton broth noodle is amazing. The broth is not too thick. The noodle is cooked just nice. I can’t find this in Singapore.

Dry noodle with wanton is also delicious.

What Im most impress is that the two kinds i had eaten had two different condiments for this. It shows (to me) that the chef cares about the food. 👍👍👍

Youtube vid on old Kuching says that this store is more than 50 yrs old. And kolo mee origin could be from this store.

A legendary shop that specializes in Hakka homemade noodles. The lamb noodle was really excellent. The lamb and the broth are perfectly cooked, also the chili is nice. I like their drinks as well, the taste is just alright and not diluted.

They open early in the morning and closed when sold out, I am lucky enough to get the last two bowls during my last visit around 10am+ in a Sunday morning.
