Drunk Monkey Old Street Bar — Restaurant in Sarawak

Nice place to hang out with friends and enjoy a great choice of good quality drinks. A good choice of good quality vines, beers and whiskey. Alcoholized drinks are always expensive in Malaysia. So it's expensive here too but no more than anywhere else places. For example, I paid 20RM for a full pint of Guinness on draw and it was happy hour, normal price is RM25. For a good pint of good black pearl it is OK. There is a very cozy place inside with a good climatisation where it's forbidden to smoke, and a terrace outside with a lot of shadow to enjoy a drink while smoking, or not. It's close to the main street art alley too. A problem : I switched years ago from tobacco to vape. Vaping isn't smoking. It's only forbidden to smoke inside but the bartender makes me go out, with smokers, as he decided that vaping was forbidden too. That's his right for sure and that's my right to never come back here and to pull the trigger on the 5th and 4th stars this bar...

Drunken Monkey has the most spectacular view in kch, located at the heart of kch city. Its a great place to relax after a long day at work, with its twist of oldies song choice from Frank Sinatra to Etta James. Truly a gems of kuching city. I have been going here for years. The customer service is superb. But I was shock during my recent visit, One of the bartender/waiter told us that we have to go inside and make payment b4 we can enjoy our drink. I didn’t know I was ordering from a McD or KFC menu. Which was weird for me. After that the bartender told us that we were a rude customer. Omg! I try to avoid to make a scene, I did what the bartender/waiter told us, we made payment at the counter just like how we order from a fast food restaurant. We even clean the table we sat to make the bartender/waiter life easier. :,). Truly the highlight...

The bar manager (or so called PIC) was so rude, she asked us to go to ATM to withdraw money because their credit card machine (or she said is the line issue) is not working. I suggested to the girl to send someone with us to the ATM machine to withdraw money and make the payment but she refused. She even said don’t blame the god if you cannot baby (seriously)! So she called the police eventually, and so do I! My suggestion is never come here! The lady’s service is horrible, you will be punished for her incompetence (like the credit card issues)! WORST BAR TO VISIT IN KUCHING!!!! In the end the credit card machine magically worked with the police’s present! And the police came because of my called, the lady was bluffing about...
