Some words about Pine Armenian: Location: Hostel was easy to find via google maps as there is no hostel name sign on the building. Just find orange color building. Several supermarkets, shops, restaurants, mosque, sightseeing places were around the hostel. Ferry station was not far from the hostel.
Clean bed with towel has been provided. There was an air conditioner and lockers but no window in my dorm room. Each bed had own plug/socket to charge phone/laptop. But I don’t remember if there was a bedside lamp for each bed. Hostel team provided me with adapter for my charger as it didn’t fit into plug/socket. Thank you for that.
Bathroom: Several shared bathrooms with toilet and shower was on the floor.
Kitchen with some equipment and dishes was at the entrance. There is a watercooler/dispenser with warm and cold water to refill empty bottle or make own tea.
Cleaning: Hostel was cleaned every day.
Wi-Fi internet worked very well everywhere in the hostel.
Communication with hostel team was made via whatsapp as I have seen only cleaning man during my stay. I haven’t seen other staff, so I assume this is a new fashion of online remote hostel management in Malaysia. But online management is very active via whatsapp. All problems are solved immediately.
High technology nuance: Hostel has pin code access system for main entrance door, for the dorm room and for the locker. Too many numbers to memorize and dial each time when needed. Me and my roommates were struggling with pin code access system in the beginning, but we get used to after one day.
Hostel is the same in reality as in booking.com pictures.
Overall, it’s a good hostel...
Read moreThis hostel is very good for the price and location. As it's a new hostel, the owners and manager are extremely responsive to any suggestions/feedback/issues and will have it sorted out as soon as they can. They really care about giving you the best possible experience in their hostel and Penang in general. The beds are comfortable, the showers have great heat and water pressure and there's free hot and cold water and coffee. The social area is a bit small but at least there is one and having to note down 3 different codes to get into your areas is a bit fiddly. I booked for 2 days but it's been really good so I've already extended a few times and am just about to extend again, making it 10 days that...
Read moreThis Hostel is really amazing. It's my huge recommendation when you come to Penang. It's really clean and everything is so new. The beds are so comfortable, it feels like you are sleeping on a cloud. Also Jimmy (the owner) has an incredibly friendly team and himself is such a nice and friendly person. You can ask them for recommendation for the tours or busses and they do their best. Also what I really like is that this place has a water for free, a kitchen and a fridge to use. Wich I think is really important for low budget backpackers. Also in every room there is an AC what was really important for me.
Everything is really amazing. Thank you Jimmy and Team for welcoming us....
