My family and I visited Tea Kadai on 24th May 2024 and encountered a distressing incident that marred our dining experience. We expected courteous and fair treatment, regardless of who we were. While feeding our 1-year-old baby, the owner approached us in a confrontational manner, shouting about the consumption of outside food. We clarified that we were feeding our baby, not ourselves, and even ensured cleanliness by washing their plate. The owner's reaction was disproportionately hostile and accusatory, suggesting that baby food could affect their air conditioning. Baby food can cause heavy bad odor despite of their fried snacks? It was evident that the owner treated us differently than they might a celebrity or favored customer, displaying bias based on appearance or perceived status. This biased treatment left us feeling disrespected and unwelcome, which is unacceptable in any customer service context. Restaurant management should ensure that all customers are treated with respect and fairness, regardless of their appearance or background. Clear and consistent policies regarding food consumption should be communicated to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts. Training in customer service and conflict resolution is essential to ensure a positive and inclusive dining experience for all patrons.
Our experience at Tea Kadai was overshadowed by biased treatment from the owner. It is disappointing to see such behavior in a service industry setting. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for improvement.
I will definitely will not recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis has always been my go to for teas in penang. Unfortunately yesterday I had bad experience ordering a slice of cake here in the newest branch . I ordered nutella cake at first, while the waiter was still there I had my eye on the other cake, so I quickly stood up to change order when the waiter is about to reach the order counter . I asked her politely to change the order, just to the other slice of cake and she answered ā no we cantā i asked why she answered ā we just cant, this place cant do that and the boss didnt allow us to that ā . I told her, the , I own a cafe too and no such things as u you cant change when cake havent been prepared and served. It is still in the cake display btw . Basically she is just rude. I didnt want to cause a scene by arguing more . I was rly dissapointed and dont feel like going or recommending anymore . As waiter, she couldve just say iāll check and come back instead . Also to the owner, please get yourself a debit terminal, not everybody is good at using QR scan...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been here twice. First time it was a good experience, so when I came back to Penang, I visited Tea Kadai again. But this time, extremely poor and terrible service. The foreign workers there were quite rude and of course, did not bother to listen to our order. We repeatedly said no sugar in tea, and yet he confidently brought us tea with sugar. When we asked, they explained with confidence that they were right and we were wrong. So 4 people made the wrong order, but the one waiter took the right order. His friend who later served us, was also adamant and blur. We believe the waiters were just being ignorant and arrogant. If they do not understand English or BM, then they should not be at forefront taking orders. If they do not know how to serve customers, they should be taught how to. If all else fails, they should take the initiative of asking a co-worker who would be able to understand and assist them, not arrogantly taking orders. Definitely wont return...
