Hotel Seri Malaysia Johor Bahru — Hotel in Johor

Seeing all the safe reviews, I made a booking with this place via Agoda for 13Dec2023 to stay over for one night till 14Dec2023. Cuz I am going to KL from Larkin terminal on 14Dec morning bus.

But I didn't stayed. I had reach this place on the 13th, only to realise that the photos shown online different so much from irl. The place is smelly, run down. There is no lift at all, no problem, I am young I can climb the stairs. I climb up the stairs to reach a room that is dirty and dusty too. The bedsheet looked like it hasn't been changed. The bar fridge looked stained and smelled funny. Not cold too.

The toilet in the room is small, mouldy, dirty. Even the water tap has green mould and rusty. The room air con doesn't work, can't be on at all. So I wanted to call the recep to get them to help me check, this was when I saw that there is no phone in the room at all. So I climb the stairs again, to go down to the recep and climb back up to my room again. Two technician came to my room after about 15mins, opened up the faulty air con, use screws and some tools.. finally air-con can be on, but only warm air.

Lots of lizards too.

I stayed till about 10pm on 13Dec night itself before I check out and go sleep over at another hotel instead near to ciq. I cannot even stand to stay for another few hours till 14Dec morning. This is how bad the place is. And then!! The placed that I moved to, the rates are even CHEAPER by sgd20 than hotel seri. I took a grabcar to Larkin in the morning on 14dec though. still cheaper than what I paid for hotel seri.

The only good thing about hotel seri would be the location. It's right next to Larkin terminal. Walkable distance.

I do not recommend to come stay here, nono. I've stayed at so many places in msia, even just jb only, this place really doesn't even meet up to my minimum expectations. I don't know how did the good reviews came from. But my side, nono, Not...

On Jan, nearby the CNY period Been here for a night's stay with my family.

Receptionist service ok. I request 2nd key card, the reason there were 3 of us. So 1 card is not convenient for us. The receptionist gives me 2nd card without extra charges or a deposit. But If you lost it then of course will be another story.

The room is spacious but I would say with a dusty smell. The room carpet seems like didn't get a proper vacuum on it.

Aircond is not cold enough.

The bed, pillow, and towel were all good!

overall whole hotel deco is a bit faded and looks old but a nights stay is still acceptable.

And it is close to Larkin Sentral (bus interchange) just behind it. The walking distance is about 700m. 24 hrs reception counter. allowed late check-in and early check out.

Ops, 1 disadvantage is they do not have any lift (elevator) so good luck if you have heavy and big luggage. Is only 2 storey. So... and there is one more thing to bring your own drinking water as the hotel only provides 1btl 500ml per person. If you need more gotta boil your own water from the tap.

But the thing is the kettle is not ok for me! The one in my room is rusty! I didn't ask to change for another kettle. So we buy our own drinking water. Maybe the management should look into it. Sorry I didn't take a photo of that!

Anyway, the receptionist and staff are attentive and helpful!

Will consider a return if we need another stay nearby...

My parents in their 60s stayed 1 night at the hotel. They have been to Seri Malaysia Taiping and Kuala Terengganu years back before this. They had a very pleasant experience with the hotels then.

The hotel in JB is located strategically near Larkin. Facade of the hotel from the outside looks like it could resort like - comfy and airy like.

Upon checking in, receptionists were nice and friendly. Upon being told by the receptionists that there are no lifts in the three story building, my parents knew they had to climb the stairs.

Lobby was well air-conditioned but unfortunately the room that my parents got barely had any cold air keeping the room cool.

Water flow of the shower is very slow. Cleanliness of the hotel room has a lot of room for improvement. My parents found lizard droppings behind the curtains, the drinking mug provided was crusty with whatever substances that was left behind by the previous guests. My parents could not contact the ops immediately as there was no telephone provided in the room.

Flooring of the hotel room was uneven and hollow at certain spots. There were also marks of water on the carpeted flooring.

My parents hope that a 2 star hotel need not be extravagant, but at least have good hygiene maintenence and basic services for guests to feel comfortable in.

Come on Hotel Seri Malaysia! Let's do something to live up to the name of...
