Very irresponsible and deceptive doctor on the second floor - Mr. Lee Kim Tiong on 2/4/2025 My father went to the hospital for a check-up because of constant pain and bleeding when urinating. The doctor said that he needed to take an X-ray to see if there were any stones. After the X-ray, it was found that there were stones in the kidneys and gallbladder.
He also asked us to go to a specialist gallbladder doctor for another check-up, but we haven't gone yet. Before the check-up, we told Dr. Lee Kim Tiong that we have insurance to protect us and that the medical expenses must be reimbursed by the insurance company. Dr. Lee Kim Tiong said yes. After the check-up, the doctor gave us medicine for RM1200+ and said to come back for a follow-up visit on 8/4/2025. How did he know that the expenses were all paid by me and he didn't write any report to the insurance company.
8/4/2025 In the morning, Dr. Lee Kim Tiong asked why we hadn’t gone to the gallbladder doctor to check for stones in the gallbladder. We said that the kidneys hadn’t been resolved yet and we didn’t have enough money to see the gallbladder doctor. After that, Dr. Lee Kim Tiong checked my father again and said that there were still bloodshot in the urethra and suspected cancer and stones. We needed to do another checkup with a catheter inserted into the urethra. Before the checkup, we repeatedly told the doctor that we wanted insurance to reimburse today’s expenses or we wouldn’t do the checkup, because my father had 2 insurance medical cards. Dr. Lee Kim Tiong said that the insurance could be reimbursed. We asked again if we were sure, and he said yes. Then we started to check with the doctor. During the urethral surgery performed by the doctor, I heard my father shout loudly that it was painful because he needed to insert it for examination.
After that, the doctor said to wait for the report. Around the afternoon, while waiting for the report, Dr. Lee Kim Tiong asked us to go to the gallbladder department to do an X-ray to check for stones in the gallbladder. After that, we went but there was no vacancy for the checkup. So we’d better do it next time. In the Evening, Dr. Lee Kim Tiong said the report was out. He said there was nothing. But he didn’t show us any report. He just asked us to pay for the medicine. The cost was RM1700+. We asked the doctor to write a report to the insurance company. But in the end, the doctor said that there was no reimbursement. He lied to us from beginning to end. He also asked why we didn’t go to the gallbladder clinic for examination. We said there was no seat and we couldn’t be examined. And the kidneys were not healed yet. In the end, he told me that it was normal to have stones in the gallbladder. Everyone has them. So why did he ask us to go to the gallbladder department for examination in the first place? Then the doctor said he would try to write a Day Care for 8 hours. I also heard the nurse said that he asked the doctor to write a report for reimbursement, but the doctor refused. Moreover, the Day Care report was not submitted to the insurance company on the same day. It was submitted after 2 days. Because I called to ask, he said he would submit it today. Is this a good attitude of the doctor? No promise. There is no news from the hospital so far. They said they kept calling but no notification. The insurance company said the report written by the doctor was not clear so it cannot be accepted. I asked the doctor to write another report and kept calling the hospital. The hospital staff kept pushing me to other departments. In the end, there was no news. They also said that the doctor did not write anything and was not there until 28/5/2025... Please give me an...
Read moreGood morning KPJ,
I'm writing my concern on an emergency doctor who I was seriously unhappy with her behaviour towards patients.
On last Friday I came to KPJ with my friend and her child to set line.
Usually, I will be recommended and consulted with Dr. Selvi as she is expert in line setting and taking care of children.
Eventhough, I understood Dr.Selvi is a busy Dr, I gave a try with my friend and her child to meet her at emergency department.
At the emergency department, we spoke to Dr.Selvi about our case and she was politely and very helpfully attended us in the midst of her busy schedule.
Suddenly, we heard a chinese parent shouted at an Indian Dr.(Dr Hera or Herma I'm not sure wt the name) , on top of her voice and the Dr too shouted and arguing to the mother insisted her to register the child's name 1st before the Dr.proceed for further action towards the sick child.
Dr.Selvi who was attending us, frantically went to the mother, cool her down, spoke to the mother that she will take care of her child while she goes and register her child's name in the system. At the same time's the mother was extremely angry with the nurse there too, asking the mother to wipe the body her child quickly as the child was having very high fever. The mother demanded an explanation to Dr.Selvi, why she has to do so when it is the nurses duty to attend her child.
However, Dr.Selvi calmed down the chaotic situation, took care of her child, wipe, change cloths and by the time the mother look at the child, she was completely cooled down and literally cried to look at her child in Dr.Selvi's hand.
When I confronted the Chinese mother after sometime, she was really mad at the other Indian Dr and nurses and appreciated Dr.Selvi handing and taking care of her child like her own.
My question to the KPJ management is, how is this possibility happening in KPJ Specialist Centre?
We, are customers and patients are paying a lot of money and we expect attention, care and love from Doctors and nurses who are super expert in their job and responsiblies.
The whole situation and scenario was intrigated by only one Indian Dr.and nurses worked with there.
I was astonished to the situation and a mother's emotion and cries.
I have been to KPJ Larkin for many times and only goes there if Dr.Selvi is there.
In fact, I recommended many people to visit only Dr.Selvi, if she is available .
I would rather wait for her appointment then seeing other doctors.
There is only one Dr.Selvi. We need more of like her to serve the people.
At times, she is very busy and I'm not that confident to consult other doctors.
I appreciate if the management could improvise Doctor's behaviours and characteristers towards patients.
I believe and trust that KPJ SPECIALIST CENTRE - LARKIN has established a very good name and I hope it won't be tarnished by certain doctors and nurses behaviour.
Thank you very much for attending my view and to adhere the issues promptly.
Hoping for a great transformation at...
Read moreI am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction and strong disappointment regarding the extremely poor handling of the admission process at your hospital.
We arrived KPJ PUTERI at 11:45 AM 1:15 PM—— completed admission and insurance form submission by 1:15 PM. 2:43 PM——AIA insurance company only received the GL request and asked the hospital to send our IC for verification. 4:41 PM—— the insurance company finally received your team reply. then AIA INSURANCE COMPANY requested additional clarification from the doctor.
After 5:00 PM, we checked with ur staff and informed that the doctor had gone off duty and the insurance company was still awaiting the doctor’s response. Since the doctor was no longer contactable, we were told to continue waiting. Admission form was done 1.15pm , but why only submit 2.43pm ?Between 2:43 PM and 4:41 PM, the doctor was still on duty. So, what exactly was your admissions team doing during this period? Why didn’t they coordinate properly with the doctor or the insurance company? Why didn’t your admissions team keep follow up and take the initiative to coordinate with the doctor or the insurer during that time? Again, I must ask — was the hospital staff playing with the patient’s life? However, we were made to wait over six hours (from 1:15 PM to 7:30 PM) for a simple admission process, which ultimately was never completed. During this period, your staff did not take the initiative to follow up, failed to provide clear explanations, and displayed a complete lack of urgency or responsibility. Eventually, we were forced to cancel the treatment at your hospital. We completed discharge procedures at 7:30 PM. Only after returning to our accommodation at 8:00 PM ,we received a call notifying us that the Guarantee Letter had been approved. This entire ordeal not only wasted our precious time but, more seriously, your team’s failure to cancel the GL after our discharge caused further complications. Due to the still-active GL from KPJ Puteri, I was unable to apply for a new one at KPJ Kuantan, causing another delay in my son’s much-needed treatment.
Furthermore, this incident severely affected our ability to proceed with the admission process at another hospital. My son was unable to receive timely medical care during a critical period — all due to your hospital’s inefficiency and failure to cancel the GL promptly. It was only at 10:00 AM on 2 May 2025, after I personally called your hospital, that the GL was finally cancelled. I ask: will KPJ Puteri Specialist Hospital take responsibility for any additional medical expenses incurred at other hospitals due to your internal mishandling? Were you treating a patient’s...
