Atayeb Restaurant — Restaurant in Johor

I am giving a middle rating. A few days ago, our family of 4 adults and one child went to try this place. My first impression was pleasant because of the very nice decor and comfortable seating. However this feeling did not last because of poor service. We ordered two main dishes. The first one, a mixed grill platter of chicken and meats arrived after 40 minutes, but without the bread. We waited for a while, thinking the bread would come soon, but no, we had to ask and sure enough, they forgot. So another few minutes of waiting. When the bread arrived, I asked about the 2nd main dish we ordered, the Turkish kebab. Oh sorry, I will check, the waiter replied. After another 15 minutes, we finished eating the 1st mains but still no Turkish kebab, so decided to leave. At the cashier, I mentioned the missing order and he was very apologetic and offered a 10% discount to our bill. Nice gesture no doubt, but doesn't remove the unsatisfactory feeling. I hope the restaurant management take steps to improve, otherwise it would be a pity that such a nice eatery be affected by...

The location of this restaurant is near the main bus station and therefore is heavily congested. Parking is very limited and I had to drive around this area a couple of times before luckily finding a spot.

The interior of the restaurant is nice and comfortable. Trendy music in the background and the comfy seatings area great for families and hanging out with friends.

They have a good selection of middle eastern food. My favourite is the kunafa as it is made when ordered so it was still hot when we received it. The mandi chicken and hanith lamb was okay but not as delicious as other Middle Eastern restaurant in Johor Bahru. The mixed arabic salad was delicious but would have been nicer if there were less cucumber. I was a bit disappointed with the garlic sauce as it was no where as good as other restaurant. The lamb in the hanith lamb dish was dry and the taste was a bit less than...

Service is so bad, there were a few customers eating as i got in, the waiter did a prompt job taking my order (mentally). After i did my fair share of waiting, the same waiter asked what was my order. wasnt a good experience to be fair. if i came here starving, confirm kena marah one.

Ordered Lamb Mandi, Chicken Haneeth, Kunafa, Dragon fruit juice and Lemon mint juice for 2 pax dining in.

Food was below my expectation. The lamb was strong in “musty” or very strong in the “goat-y” smell. The rice for both order is decently flavoured though i wish for stronger flavour.

It took us almost 2 hours from entering and until i made the payment.
