We booked this hotel twice in one week (January 26th–27th and January 31st–February 2nd) and had terrible experiences both times due to dishonesty, poor service, and lack of accountability.
First Stay (Jan 26–27)
We booked 4 Artist One Plus Loft (AOPL) rooms and 1 Thinker Two Type 1 (TTT1) room. Upon check-in, we were told that one AOPL was unavailable due to a ceiling leak and that we were being "upgraded"—which was actually a downgrade to a smaller, cheaper TTT2 room (around RM70 price difference). They did not mention a refund.
Having stayed here 2-3 times before, we were incredibly disappointed, especially since we had recommended this hotel to friends and family. After calling out the lie, they apologized but offered no solution. We had to propose our own: upgrading the TTT1 to a TTT2 instead of asking for a refund (even though the price difference wasn’t equal). They agreed and placed all our rooms on the same floor. As "compensation," they offered a late checkout, which we asked to carry forward to our next stay on Jan 31st.
Second Stay (Jan 31–Feb 2)
We booked the same room types (4 AOPL & 1 TTT1). At check-in, we were already expecting one downgraded room, but this time they said two rooms would be downgraded. They claimed they sent a refund email two weeks earlier due to the same ceiling leak, but we never received any refund email, making it seem like they were lying or covering up a double booking.
To make things worse, one room was placed on a different floor. Since we had elderly guests, we asked if we could get all rooms on the same floor by upgrading the TTT1 to a TTT2 (like they had done before). They refused, claiming they were fully booked, but offered no compensation or even basic consolation for the inconvenience.
We requested to speak to the manager, but they never showed up. Eventually, we spoke to the Duty Manager, who offered free breakfasts and promised a cash refund at checkout.
At checkout, we expected at least RM280 (since the downgrade price difference was ~RM70 per night per room). Instead, they tried to refund only RM100+. After arguing, they reluctantly increased it to RM300.
Final Thoughts
This entire experience was exhausting and frustrating. While the hotel is affordable and ok, they have tried to scam us THREE times, repeatedly failed to honor promises, and provided terrible service. I no longer feel comfortable supporting them and would not recommend this hotel to anyone. If you choose to stay here, be prepared to fight for what...
Read moreThe hotel is co-living and cheap so it’s always too crowded. The major con is the lift because you have to wait soooo long for the lift despite having SIX elevators. It’s always full from B3 all the way up to level 29. Another con is they don’t provide toothbrush so you have to get it yourself. No netflix too, just Youtube. The cafe downstairs is only for their buffet so you cannot walk in any other times to buy coffee except the Starbucks machine. Carpark is not free. You have to pay a discounted price of 5 ringgit for guests. Price will be revised to 6 ringgit per day from January 2025 onwards. If not it will be 10-12 ringgit for non-guest. If the staffs are on break, they are not even helpful at all so don’t bother asking for help. They will just tell you to queue at the long queue with people who are checking in and out for just card problem to access the lift. So I just cut the queue and went straight to the front desk. The female staffs couldn’t multitask either and were very slow probably new. They should make express check out because check out is very fast yet we have to join the check in queue. They don’t even have proper signage for the queues. The ironing board is the same level as the laundry machine so you have to go to the level to iron your clothes.
Pros are the swimming pool is incredible. Nice view too! Very very cold! The gym is well-equipped and clean. The guest rooms are clean too and the housekeeping is prompt. They don’t provide bathrobes and there are no complimentary teas or coffees. It’s a great budget hotel because they are pretty new. There is a cafe just opposite the hotel so you can get your coffee fixed there. Plenty of food stalls and restaurants too. It is also a walking distance to a mall so you can check out for food there too.
I requested for a room far from the railway noise so it didn’t disturb me much. Overall, it was a 50-50 experience! A good balance of pros and cons but I am not coming here again. Thank...
Read moreMy stay at Komune Living was good but I took off two stars because of a these issues:
Do note they don’t provide any room slippers or robes or toiletries. I had plans use their pool but I didn’t have any of these items with me and I couldn’t possibly go up to the pool with my sneakers. There is no toiletries as well other than body gel so do bring your own.
The TV does not have Netflix or Airplay at all and most of the apps/demand TV on it does not work. They only have local channels and YouTube so the TV was practically useless for me. I have to rely on my iPad but……
The wifi is REALLY spotty, you may get good connection at times - if not it’s really laggy and does not load at all. Since I couldn’t use the TV, I had to watch shows on my iPad and my shows were so laggy, I couldn’t even download them because of the laggy wifi.
The shower area is not sealed off from the sink/toilet area so water splashes everywhere. Also the design of the shower floor area isn’t able to keep the water in, so water will overflow into the sink floor area. Wasn’t a big issue for me but might be an issue for others. Oh, there isn’t a floor mat as well so I had to use the extra towel as a floor mat.
The water heater temperature also fluctuates from RT to hot while I’m showering, not sure why but it was a bit annoying.
I exchanged tokens for the laundromat (MYR10 for 2 tokens) and both token couldn’t work (kept getting dispensed out) so I tried to go to the reception counter to get a refund but all the staff said was “oh it’s a third party vendor so non-refundable” and ignored me. Even if it’s third party vendor, wouldn’t the hotel liaise with them to return spoilt tokens etc so couldn’t you do a refund??? If the laundromat was located in a publicly accessible area of the hotel, I would understand. But the floor to the laundromat required hotel access so this meant the hotel will have to liaise with the laundromat company. This was a...
