Rumah Jah Langkawi — Hotel in Langkawi Island

Me and a group of friends stayed in this lovely place for 3 days and 2 nights. It is such a wonderful place, very homely and comfortable. The water heater and air conditioning was all in order. The water pressure was slightly low in the room upstairs, but no issues in both the bathrooms downstairs. Aircond was cold and the entire place was clean and in a very orderly manner.

The manager and staff appeared very professional and friendly. They added the feeling of comfort in our stay.

What I like most about the place is the beautiful and large garden within the compound of the house, which gives the house a magnificent aura and serenity. I would love to bring my family here. I guess a group of 8 to 10 people (including children) can stay comfortably in this place. The amenities were immaculate, with a full kitchenette, a dining table, a living area, and a lavish balcony and front terrace.

The only drawback is that the house is not facing the beach, nevertheless the beach is jusy 2 minutes walk away. My only regret is that we didn't spend a lot of time in the house to enjoy its serenity, we were out visiting places and doing activities mostly. This place is an excellent getaway to just relax and chill.

On another note, I had accidentally left my pendant in the room, and only realised it when we were on the ferry out of Langkawi. We contacted the manager, who immediately checked and assured us that they have located it and will ensure we get it back. It was couriered to me and I received it within a few days, in pristine condition. I requested to pay, but the manager kindly declined, so it was sent back to me at no cost at all. This is the true Malaysian hospitality. Thank you "Rumah Jah". Looking forward to being there again with my family soon....

We initially stayed at the 4-star property of this group but were moved here after many issue in the other property. We switched to a real hotel one day later due to more issues here, following I mention issues in both properties to give a wider understanding of the service quality.

on the first night there was no water in the room after is was fixed some hours later by filling a water tank with a water hose (!) the water was very dirty as there is no filtering we then were offered a cheaper accommodation (this one!) as an alternative and we accepted as we wanted to enjoy our vacation there the AC for the master bedroom did not work properly (was fixed next day) the next issue we had was a venomous flying tree snake in the house (the manager lied to us that it is harmless... we travel with kids that could have died) After these issues we spend around 5 hours of fixing or waiting for things to be fixed in total and decided to cut our losses to move to a real hotel (which was the same price by the way) When confronting the manager about all these issues she told us her boss would deduct any refund from her pay-check. Talk about a professional business.

Besides above mentioned issues there are many general problems with the house and its concept: The rooms don't have windows (with glass) so you will sit in the dark whenever you are in the room, as opening the wooden windows would mean to let the humid and hot air in The bathrooms are open to the outside without mosquito nets. There are A LOT of mosquitos on Langkawi Everything is broken down and worn off, with rusted metal sticking out of places and mould growing...

Please be aware that there is a massive construction project directly beside this house at the moment. (August 2022) There was extremely loud banging all day during 2 days that we stayed here. The owner didn't warn us about the construction prior to our stay. The house is very nice, however its impossible to relax due constant...
