This is a good place to try a very expensive cantina.
I tried 2 times, and everytime had the same impression. Last time was worst. They don't carry about the customers needs, they want your money (many) and to stay a short time to the table.
In any expensive asian restaurant, they need to known that the main course will came after the starter and the client need some time to breathe and to enjoy the food. We go to the (expensive) restaurant to enjoy the food, not to satisfy some nutritional needs. It is not case for this restaurant. In the midle of tasting/eating of the starter, they came with platous of second course (fishes). First, it was difficult to refuse, because the servants dind't speak other language and our waiter was busy conning others. After few minutes somebody understand our message/protest and the platous with fishes return to the kitchen. Meanwhile, a young boy came to our table with the rice. Very good coordination. My steam rice remained on the table, lucky outside it was warm to keep eatable. So, we finish the started, and our waiter abrutly came very attent with us (because of the protest), asked 2-3 times when to serve the main course, with some unconvincing appologies. As I expected the second course was at lower temperature (again outside temperature help).
Big dissapointed. The service is horrible, instead a lot of people involved: servants, supervisers, waiters. The desert is absent (only 2 stupid options, fruits and/or ice cream). The food is generally good, but the atmosfere is like a huge expensive cantina.
You dond't need to wait too much to paid, they are very promptly, with a lot of smiles. The service is included in the bill, so does'nt matter.
P.S. There is a limited number of quality restaurants in Langkawi, and may be this is reason of...
Read morePosh but casual Chinese seafood restaurant in Langkawi (with a great live band & a bar)! We went on a Friday evening & it was quite crowded but there wasn't a queue.
We had 2 crabs (their crabs are around 400-500g, a tad small in my personal opinion but that made it a little more affordable, at RM $19.50 per 100g), crab meat tofu & a plate of cauliflower.
They'll bring you to the live seafood tanks and weigh the crabs in front of you & see if you're okay with it (showmanship). We had the crabs cooked in black pepper & steamed with egg white (highly recommended!).
The black pepper sauce was a little too starchy for my liking and doesn't really alleviate the taste of the crab so I wouldn't recommend it. But the crab steamed with egg white was absolutely delicious! Tasted like Chinese chawanmushi with fresh crab meat! Really good pairing!
Next, the tofu with crab meat was not bad (crab meat's serving was abit lacking in my opinion) but overall still good to try (probably suits the older generation's taste more).
Last but not least, the cauliflower. Tasted like mummy's nostalgic cooking, pretty nice and cozy imo.
The interior & exterior of the place has really nice, modern & posh chinese vibes so we really liked it and it is very spacious!
What surprised us most is that they have a really good live band performing in the middle of the restaurant! There's also some seating in the middle of the restaurant surrounded by pebble floor and trees for people who just want a drink 🍷🍻! The live band was playing English chill pop acoustic songs the day we went so we could hear it from the restaurant and it added a modern & relaxing touch to it 🙃
The total bill came up to around RM $250 for 2 pax & I think it's...
Read moreDisappointed Experience – Not Worth the Hype I was really looking forward to trying the chili crab here, expecting something close to the standard we have in Singapore. Unfortunately, it didn’t even come close. The flavour was lacking, and it didn’t resemble the authentic taste at all it was just oily The environment was also a letdown. For a place of this calibre, I didn’t expect so many flies—some were even dropping their wings onto my plate. It made the dining experience quite unpleasant. I usually don’t give negative feedback unless prompted, but when the waiter asked, I honestly shared that the chili crab didn’t taste right. He explained they tried to replicate Singapore-style food but struggled due to import restrictions. That confused me, as I had just dined at Teo Seafood Restaurant in Langkawi, which not only got the taste right but arguably served better chili crab than some places in Singapore. After mentioning I was from Singapore, the waiter commented that he felt Singapore wasn’t safe. A bit of an odd statement during a dining experience, but I suppose everyone’s entitled to their opinion. Overall, I don’t feel the food or experience was worth the price. If you’re just curious, maybe give it a try—but if you’re Singaporean and craving good seafood, I’d recommend The Crab Langkawi Farm and Restaurant instead. Their butter milk crab is excellent and well worth the visit.
TLDR: If you’re from Singapore, skip this place—you can find far better, more authentic and enjoyable seafood elsewhere...
