Lutan 21 — Restaurant in Malacca

A relaxed, chill vegetarian restaurant. What i appreciate about here is they only use real vegetables, herbs and spices to get their flavors - no mock meat.

We had some amazing dishes here.

1. quinoa long bean fried rice Fragrant. Wok hei. And very light. Comes with soup that is also refreshing and light. Lovely!

2. Golden Fried Rice This one is fried well with turmeric, very delicious and healthy. Lots of veges in it. Love it!

3. Lutan Meal This monster of a meal comes with a “bakuteh” esque soup. Which without the fats and oil is actually very refreshing and light, while still serving a wonderful herbal flavors. The yam rice is next level!! And the pairings are wonderful. The monkey head mushroom in the soup is meaty, substantial and delicious.

4. vege spring roll. Stuffed to the brim with fresh vegetables! So so so good! The sauce makes everything pop!

5. Fried Tempeh with curry. The perfect snack. Chewy, crispy. Salty and fragrant.

6. Red bean soup and Ginger, Lemon Grass tea. Both taste amazing. Not too sweet. Freshly made with quality ingredient. I believe the ginger is bentong ginger - so there’s that extra kick.

The founder, Wendy, is super friendly and set up this concept vegan restaurant just across the road from the Hilton Double Tree that is arguably the healthiest, tastiest and most worth-your-buck vegan restaurant in Malacca. Definitely try the creamy red bean beverage, sweet raddish, mee sua cake, herbal pot, fried glass noodles, nyonya laksa, brown rice with yam, nasi lemak, original or spicy tempeh cubes and many others. It's easily our 5th time here and we always order lots. Be sure to ask about eggs if you don't want them. We savored the Nasi Lemak Veg, featuring a standout sambal that elevated the dish to new heights. The Nyonya Curry Laksa was equally impressive, with a rich broth and fresh ingredients that delighted our taste buds.
