We stayed from 8/10/2020-9/10/2020 because my kids’ birthdays are both on October and my eldest wanna try - camping. But looking at our current weather I decided to choose Glamping at Genting
The total I paid via website is RM420. Weekdays rate is RM300/night for 2 pax in a normal dome. RM50 add for my 7yr old daughter and RM70 for a bbq pit (they set up the fire + extra charcoal) but you’ll have to bring your own cutlery and foods.
Check in with RM100 refundable deposit. They gave me dome no B5. A nightmare - it is so farrrrr from the reception counter. Here in Glamz there’ll be no one helping you to carry your bags or help u with your kids. With so many bags, foods for bbq and two active kids - the narrow walkways, stairs and distance will make it even more challenging. Haha
When we reached at B5 - is another nightmare. This is worse than what I felt when I was at sg congkak few years ago, because I paid 350/night here lol! There’s no partition, all domes are too close to each other! And when I walked in - this definitely not the dome they marketed in the website-NO!
There’s no tissue in my toilet - I complained via WhatsApp (this is how they’ll communicate with u at Glamz) they sent it immediately. Staff are polite online/offline- I got no issue with staff there. 1-2 hrs later 2 staff came to my dome and they said I can move & choose any 2 domes at the S area - without hesitation I said yes and I’m not ok with my current dome.
I chose S4 and this is the exact dome they marketed on the web with nicer view, nicer dome, with garden set and enough space. We’re happy with this dome.
There’s a heated pool but not really big. Cafeteria and all doesn’t seems to operate-not sure whether they operate on weekends tho. The area went through test of time & weather so but worn out... but when I was there there are some maintenance work going on.
Cold during raining season- really cold at night. BBQ pit/area is ok but they can do better. My area a bit dark and the other all adult group get the brighter place. And I got kids with me fgs. They need to be more sensitive about guests backgrounds etc.
Limited activities unless u joining jungle trekking etc. Ok if you got extra money & looking for the experience of Glamping. Otherwise- there are other better, safer, much comfortable places for family with kids. My stars goes to polite staff, nice breakfast basket, nice...
Read moreWill talk about the good and bad.
The good - the place at night is beautiful! Like a fairy park with lights and very peaceful and calm. Overall, it is very clean. The service by the staffs are good - courteous, attentive. The scenery, nature, ambience, design of the whole place are all good. Very instagrammable for those who love taking photo.
The not good - breakfast is very stingy. The nasi lemak ayam - only 2 very pathetic small pieces of curry chicken. And all the 4 of us got mostly (80%) chicken neck, bones, buntut ayam. Not sure why so coincident. Genting chicken has not much flesh? Only skins and bones? Not lying. Look at the picture please. For the price of RM840+ per night that I paid, I expect much better breakfast. All the condiments on the nasi lemak plate is low quality - the rice, egg, cucumber, sambal, ikan bilis. I am not asking for all chicken thigh on my nasi lemak, but I think for the price paid, you can afford to give each guest one piece of big chicken - just like outside nasi lemak would sell? I believe people would feel happier and won't end up feeling scammed of cheap breakfast.
The bread - cheap bread. Butter is generally margerine. Not even planta quality. The milk is not fresh milk, I suppose it is bancuh from milk powder. The coffee - indocafe 3 in 1 coffee. Can't you even afford a coffee machine for a Glamorous camping? In the whole breakfast spread, only the Milo is drinkable. The rest of the breakfast items are very pathetic quality. It is a really big deduction point, hence I only provide a 3 star rating. Otherwise, bolehlah bagi 4 points. My observation of all the other guests while having their breakfast - not happy. Do look into it. We are Malaysian. Malaysian are particular about food.
And Wifi sucks in the room.
Please look into improvements. I kesian your staff needs to manage customers' complaints. When I check out at the reception, I hear complaints and your staff can just apologize profusely. As an employer, please treat your internal and external customers better. Few of my friends asked if I would recommend Glamz? What do you think...
Read moreThanks to prior reviews we came prepared. What we like about Glamz. 1. Location is good. The place is calming and a great place to bond with kids. We could hear the sounds of nature at night and really got the camping feeling (including some bugs that flew in out tent :)). 2. The breakfast is much better than expected. They sent whatsap with menu option. So next day we sat according to assigned table and they will serve the breakfast at your table. There is also a small buffet with with cereals, toast and make your own half boiled egg kit 3. The toilet although small was clean. We stayed in the bell tent and were comfortable. We didnt stay in the tent after 10am till 6pm as it was hot but spent the day in Genting. 4. The butterfly park was 10 minute walk away. So we walked there for strawberry shake. Lots of wildflowers along the way. 5. There are board games and badminton sets we could use for free. There is a family bike that we can use but u just cycle round in circles in it. Gave the kids a good laugh. Who knew. Genius idea given the limited space. 6. There is a pantry with cuckoo water dispenser (hot and cold water). The kids just love getting all of our attention here as we left our laptops at home. What we think can be improved is the road for parking. The cleanliness of the linen and some molds growing in the tent. But I am guessing its a constant battle given the elements. The view outside our bell tent is a walkway and gate. So no open space to run around in front of your tent. Need to go to the common area to do that. The cups in the room are just small plastic cups. If you brought your own coffee, then I suggest bring some mugs as well. Also pack like u r camping using backpacks. Its just more practical for this place as there are some stairs to get to the tent. Overall a comfortable stay and we had good experience. Just dont come expecting a luxury...
