This charming spot brings a deep sense of nostalgia with its old-school atmosphere, offering a perfect retreat to chill and unwind. The moment you step in, you’re transported to a simpler time, making it an ideal place to enjoy a slow, relaxing coffee break.
Beverages
If you’re a coffee lover, Chang Jiang White Coffee is the highlight here. It’s incredibly fragrant, smooth, and rich in flavor—without needing any extra sugar, as the natural sweetness is perfectly balanced. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick pick-me-up or just want to enjoy a cup with friends, this coffee hits the mark every time.
Food
While the food was decent, it wasn’t the standout of the visit. They serve pork-free dishes, and the toast with kaya and butter was especially delicious—crispy, buttery, and totally addictive! The laksa was also flavorful, with just the right amount of spice. That being said, the freshly baked egg tarts, which we were excited to try, sadly didn’t make it into our order as the serving size was three, and we couldn’t finish them all.
Ambience
The vibe here is truly unique—combining a nostalgic charm with a cozy setting. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend hours enjoying good food and drinks, and the relaxed atmosphere is perfect for a casual hangout with family or friends. However, while the nostalgic concept is well-executed, there’s a small hiccup with cleanliness, especially around the wash basin area, which could use a bit more attention.
Service
The staff here are friendly and the service is efficient, ensuring a pleasant experience from start to finish.
Overall Experience
Overall, this place offers a great blend of good food, excellent coffee, and a wonderful atmosphere. It’s a solid spot to unwind and enjoy some traditional flavors, especially if you’re in the mood for a quality cup of coffee. Definitely a place I’ll visit again the next time...

Located in a refurbished bungalow, Chang Jiang is decorated with a posh 80's kopitiam style with English influences. The only things that I felt a little out of place are the D.I.Y. egg carton trays on the windows, but your mileage may vary. There is very little parking available inside the compound with limited space to manouvre, so I suggest parking along the street outside and walk a little. Also note that you have to take a number and queue for your table, so beware of the wait during peak periods.
The namesake White Coffee here is... good. My hesitation is here is due to the fact that although the overall smoothness is surprisingly great with a subtle sweetness balanced at the end of each sip, the bitter edge is lacking and the smoothness just ends up feeling a little sterile/forgetable. Also, you pay RM4.20 which is about the same price as other commercialised white coffee houses, and even after factoring the ambience and air-conditioning, I still feel a little lost knowing there are actual older coffee shops serving possibly better and cheaper coffee within the region. I do admit that I might be nitpicking and taste os subjective.
The toast here is surprisingly memorable. It is the kind with thin bread completely toasted through (perfect for dipping into your coffee), but due to the richness of the kaya and the blocks of real butter streaking through, it doesn't feel dry. A standard set is very...
Read moreAtmosphere: Good place to hang out for lunch or tea-time. It is quite crowded with people, but i think the place has sufficient seats to accommodate. Went during weekday (Friday) and weekend (Saturday), don’t have to queue, but they has seats to serve.
Parking: Inside the place has some spaces to park cars. Limited; but can accommodate.
Drink: Ordered their signature white coffee (hot) & crossover (hot and cold), they are nice. Has its Ipoh’s authenticity and worth trying. For cold, the sweetness is just nice. For hot, if one does not really take sweet drink, then good to order the “C” (the one without condensed milk, but using evaporated milk only). However, if order for cold, after mixing with the ice, the sweetness is just nice!
Food: Strongly recommended to go for their golden toast with kaya & butter. It is crispy (not like biscuit, but the crispness just nicely made). The steamed toast is nice too, but if can apply slightly a little bit more kaya, it would be even nicer. Their signature braised noodle, in my opinion, I think it can be improved/enhanced further to have a stronger “braised” flavors.
Will go again for their coffee/crossover &...
