Shake & Bake Cafe — Restaurant in Perak

The location is perfect for meet ups and gatherings cuz plenty of parking available.

I was there for late lunch (almost 3pm so you can imagine the hunger) after exiting highway plus crazy heavy rain. the place was not busy, less than 10 tables of customers and no queue.

When I placed order, the cashier mentioned that I have to pick up the drinks myself but food will be sent to my table. The table number was given and then the drink is served fast.

Order was placed 3.12pm, food only served at 4.05pm (after checking with their staffs at 3.55pm). With less than 10 tables and not everyone is ordering food item, I think the manager (if they have one) should pay real attention on their service standard.

You have more than 5 working staffs at the front facing and it took you almost an hour for a plate of pasta, not apologetic samo.

Food is good, I ordered the Alfredo with beef. The dining experience will be better if they didn’t use plastic cutlery, food is served on ceramic plates so the plastic fork and spoon don’t match.

The good

1. ample of parking
2. Cooling and very spacious interior
3. Surprisingly the curry noodle was very good! Better than most of what Ipoh have to offer. Very rich coconut based curry soup!
4. The baked goods are decent, Swiss rolls being the main star here.
5. The taro ice snowflake - also very good.

The bad -

1. The so called Michelin fried rice was however very very average.
2. atrocious long service time for payment. People are buying bread only and the queue is taking way too long.
3. Drinks come out very very slow. Food takes even longer. And to note - avoid the Americano, it taste just like ice cold water. Unbelievably bland with zero coffee taste.
4. Small drinks are priced at RM10+ , pricier than your usual ipoh joints. Some like the Americano are totally not worth it, while others like the taro ice snowflake are worth it.

Other note - your menu are waaaaaaaay too hard to see over the counter with the bright yellow neon signs reflecting it. There's no menu anywhere else in your restaurant aside from at the payment cashier.

Being a modern day outlet fanatic, I for one would definitely recommend this spot to all those who seek self indulgence after a long hiatus period. Came here for the first time, and surely wouldn't be the last. Array of intricately done pastries, mouth watering snacks, proportionately served dishes, artisan coffees and teas with a whole lot of frappe's and drinks for the ones with sweet tooth, and not forgetting their signature chocolate cakes baked to perfection. I casted my orders to my instinct and went with a serving of popcorn chicken, onion ring, a steaming cup of large latte and a slice of their top selling Chocolate Galore cake. What more can I say? Instantly hooked. Splendid ambience, appealing hospitality, diligently set up infrastructures such as specialised corners for plain cold water, sauces, additional paper plates, spoons, sugars and creamer, and so much more.
