Small hotel in middle of Ipoh town which is very convenient for travelers. The reception area is clean, nice design and well maintained. Rooms are a little shabby, not too clean but well maintained. Rooms are a little small too. Plenty of parking slots around here but normally are fully taken especially during peak hours. Hotels only provide 2 parking slots in front of the hotel which is free while other parking slots are required payment (RM0.60/hrs or RM4/day). Plenty of restaurants, souvenirs, convenient stores nearby. Staffs were friendly but slow efficiency (took about 30mins to check in). WiFi is not working in this hotel too.

That's the first time that I got to stay in the Le Metrotel, Ipoh. Staff are polite and helpful, they need more improvements on the toilet of the room itself. The whole toilet is flat which there r no partition between the toilet area and bathing area. Ponding water happens, and that's very uncomfortable to those who stay in it. Hope the management could look into this and improve accordingly. Others like the location are just perfect. Water temperature is adjustable which is good. The TV which mount on wall have all the local channels, and they even have the USB port, but the it only allows for photos and music. :(

If you are just looking for a place to rest your head at night at a low price, Metrotel is a good option. This is a no frill option. No safe, no mini fridge, no separate shower, etc. Right outside the hotel is plenty of food choices (for chicken rice and local pastries) and at night, there is a small night market. For local attractions, we were able to walk to Concubine Street in 20 minutes. The templates (Sam Poh, etc) was probably a 15 minutes Grab ride. The cave (Tempurung) was 35 minutes Grab ride. WEIL Hotel 8 minutes grab ride. Dessert lane 15 minutes walk. Grab is plenty around the area.

I have rarely had to write a bad review on a Hotel, we travel 8 months of most years, there are many opportunities for us to experience poor Hotels and Poor Service.

-1 Star for arriving into a room with long Black Hairs in the Bed.

-1 Star for not having a mini Fridge in the room when the Temperatures Outside are constantly super Hot.

-1 Star for being Charged $7 Dollars a Night for a room with a Fridge and then moving out of the first room and into the very slightly larger room (with a fridge) Which had even more hairs on the bed and floor than the first room.

-1 Star for Awful Internet which turned Off several times a day. Needing you to ask the lobby to reset it and if you were lucky and got a member of staff that would do it, you might have crawlingly slow internet for a few hours. However, the second time I went down to the lobby to ask if they could fix the dead internet the Seemingly uninterested Gentleman just mumbled no other guest has complained yet?

-1 Star for being Woken up at 7.30 after a long day and little sleep to Music being played Loudly outside my room. Was it a guest? No, it was the Hotel piping Music into the corridors, there was a Speaker just above my door and they thought it was appropriate we all wake up to their Radio Station. I was later told by the Manager that all Hotels had Music Piped into the Corridors. I told him that in the 1000's I have staid in this was the first. I explained that Hotels have Music in the Lobby and Elevators, not outside the bedrooms, It was lost on him.

-1 Star for the Dirty Thread bare towels which were rolled up on our bed when we came back from a hot walk. At this point I asked for the person in charge but was told he was Busy, I had asked about the manager in the morning with the noisy music and was told he rarely came into the hotel. So I decided I would sit in the Lobby for as long as it took, they kept trying to palm me off and I kept saying I would not leave until I met this evasive Manager after an Hour or so the staff did seem to make some calls and the Manager turned up. Now I have to be fair there are some nice staff here at #LeMetrotel and the Manager was no exception but no one there seemed to want to take charge. I was told by Mr Choy, the Manager, a number of things which eased my Mind, I was also paraded my thread bare towels and asked where were the Marks? Which were less visible in the Lobby light, so I was made to feel that I was making a Mountain, luckily I had photographed the towels in our room and they are clearly not clean and they were hard and worn out also.

-1 Star for being constantly reminded by Mr Choy that this was "a Budget Hotel" not something that was reflected in their price, I was paying more for this tiny room with almost no facilities. I had just arrived in Ipoh from renting a very nice 1 bedroom, modern, serviced apartment in Kuala Lumpur, just 10 minutes walk to the Twin Towers and that place was less a night, with it's separate Bedroom, Plush Bathroom and fitted Kitchen than this slightly grimy room overlooking a Rat infested back alley in the town of Ipoh, so I was a little annoyed to have every shortcoming explained away by the fact they were a "Budget Hotel"

1 sachet off coffee provided to me over 7 days, which turned out to be so awful, I didn't worry that they didn't refresh the coffee over any of the days

-1 Star for some of the worst Hotel Staff since Faulty Towers, not all but a few that just didn't give a damn.

Some of the staff were great. Jessy is possibly the best thing about the Hotel, not that she could help much but she had a good Disposition

The Location was OK, which is all I really require from a Hotel other than cleanliness, internet and staff that care.

Little else is redeeming about this Hotel, it seems a Cash Cow for a Greedy Owner that clearly has no interest in putting a Manager in house that can do anything or even give a damn to the customers that line his greedy...

Positives. Excellent location.|| Basic room but very clean.|| Good shower.|| Friendly, helpful staff.|| Hotel got us taxi to train station for 7/10 rings. When we arrived we were charged 22 !!!!!!||||Negatives.|| Some guests smoke in their rooms, even though it is a none smoking hotel.|| || For us a big negative was no breakfast. We had to search hard to find || some where for a basic western breakfast. ie toast and eggs.|||| We are seasoned travellers, always enjoy the regional food but do || enjoy a simple western breakfast.|||| If all you eat is western food Ipoh is definitely not a place for you.|| || Watch where you walk at night there are open drains so you could have || a c**y night out, literally.|||||| It is worth a short visit and like us travel by train from KL.|||| We booked tickets...

So we stayed there for a night, 190RM plus for 2 single beds. First of all the guys on the counter should learn some communication skills. check in and check out also is a headache even if you hv booked ur room online, you still will hv to waste time on counter and answering his stupid questions, like how many kids are gonna stay with you and why didnt come straight rather than booking online bla bla.

The room was super small, with no night lights, the washroom had a small light where you cant even see ur face in the mirror, no tooth brush, soap or shampoo were given, only 2 towels which were torn, the aircon wasnt cold, God knows if there were bed bugs bcz my kids were scratching themselves the whole night. Please dont fall for these beautiful pictures near the lift and the hallway in google, in real the hallway was full of smoking smell that we could feel it in our room even. It was a 190+ scam, its hardly a 50 RM per night worth hotel, i hv never written a review for hotels before but i hv nvr stayed in such worst hotel...
