It’s a great place to soak in the authentic Malaysian coffee shop experience, where the focus is more on the food and atmosphere than on decor.
Food & Drink:
The coffeeshop is renowned for its delicious, hearty local dishes. Some of the highlights include:
Ipoh Chicken Kway Teow soup, must try. The soup is full of prawn umami taste. Kway teow is very smooth as silk.
Peanut pancake, quality was better few years back. Now, if you want to buy the side crust, have to buy together with the center piece. Better to buy from other shop.
Fruit Rojak, served with prawn paste and topped with cut chili and belacan powder. Must try. The fruits are fresh. Is slightly expensive.
Nasi Lemak: A favorite among patrons, featuring fragrant coconut rice served with sambal, anchovies, peanuts, and a hard-boiled egg. The sambal here is known for its balance of sweetness and spiciness.
Char Kway Teow: A popular order, this dish is well-loved for its smoky wok hei flavor, tender noodles, and generous portions of shrimp and Chinese sausage.
Ipoh White Coffee: No visit to Loke Wui Kee is complete without trying their white coffee, a local specialty that is rich, creamy, and aromatic.
Toast and Soft-Boiled Eggs: A classic breakfast or snack choice, with crispy toast paired with perfectly cooked soft-boiled eggs.

Read moreThis place existed in my memory since childhood days whenever I visited Ipoh. It is one of the oldest famed kopitiam in Ipoh beside Tin Chun and Kong Heng during the 70s. In those days, it is popular for its yummy Ipoh’s noodles called ‘Ho Her’. It has a clear broth with glass noodles served with fish cake, fish balls and Dong cai, a preserved Chinese vegetable. Unfortunately, the older generation has passed on, the current Ho Hee store didn’t live up to the previous standards, the broth was blend with a tint of sweetness, the fish balls we’re super salty that we didn’t feel right having the second one. This is a total let down. I won’t recommend this noodle if you happen to patronize this place. My sister decided to give the Hainanese curry noodles a try. It turned out pretty authentic, the broth was aromatic with the curry mixed well with the blended potatoes to thicken the curry broth. Although it appeared to be spicy but it was not. So this is worth a try. We also ordered the Cantonese fried hor fun from one of the stores. The Cantonese fried was mediocre and average. I heard the Ipoh popular Chicken Sa Hor Fun was not that great though the broth looked yummy. There were quite a few other stores selling other stuffs. I noticed the one selling the Chinese apom (Dai Kou min) seemed busy. We also tried the Ipoh famous dessert, the steamed egg custard. It tasted ok but not fantastic. This place is located in the heart of Ipoh new town which can be easily reached. I find there are many other kopitiams in Ipoh serve better food...
Read moreWe tried this place as our reg fav kopitiam kong heng was closed. FYI Thu seems to be a rest day for many of the coffee shops and stalls 😔 in any case, we went hoping to try their chicken hor fun but the stall was also closed. We tried the hor hee stall which served teochew fish ball koay teow soup which was also popular. It did not disappoint, the soup was flavorful with the famous smooth ipoh kuay teow. The fruit rojak was very good with a very nice rojak sauce and included jambu air and star fruit. Both are local ipoh produces that you should buy back. The egg custard was nice and not too sweet, my bro loved it but it wasnt creamy enough for me. The white coffee was pretty good but there are better ones in Ipoh. Worth a visit and i'll definitely go back to try the chicken kuay teow soup / kai...
