We (2 couples including 2 elder couple) simply loved our stay at hotel. Once we reach the Velana (Maldives) International airport. We went to counter 43, which is for Somerset hotel. The hotel staff was very friendly. He arranged for our boat transfer to Male Island. Once we reach Male island, another hotel staff was waiting for us to arrange for taxi or cab. We reached hotel very smoothly. Once we reach hotel, we were greeted with smile and tea. We were shocked to know that hotel does not accept Indian rupees or Singapore dollars. We paid our hotel booking fee using international debit card. Out of the way, hotel staff was kind enough to help to change our Hong kong dollar to Maldivian ruffiyaa. The exchange rate, local shop offered was almost half (1/2) of normal exchange rate. Once, we told the staff about it, he quickly talked to the local shop to get better rate. The hotel is a bit difficult to find but they provide the local map and local people are very helpful, if we lost our ways. The room are comparatively smaller but it was very well decorated. We love the interior design of the room. The room has cabinet, locker, glass, coffee machine, more than 4 pillows, chair, many charging points, coffee cups, tea, coffee, milk, aircon, etc. Towels and toiletries were provided. Beds were really soft. It was difficult to get any view from room but it is good to get rooms at higher floor. We were provided complementary breakfast. We liked it, even though there was limited choice of food available. We booked the day excursion. The transfer to and from hotel and Maafusi island was very good.At Arena hotel at Maafussi island, we were provided snorkeling equipment but sea beach did not have clear enough water to snookle and we could not see fish nearby sea shore. Complementary ala carte lunch was very good. We tried non alcoholic drink "HOLSTEN" was almost same as beer but without alcohol in it.We were provided free wi-fi. The hotel arranged for a short island tour. Very thanks to the hotel. They also gave hand-band souvenir. For detail reviews of hotel and tour, please read my blogspot blog "SYLEWO". The best part of this hotel (Somerset Inn) is "Staff". They all were very polite, professional and courteous. They were greeting all the time. We had nice conversation with reception staff Jenny. We noticed that she was helping all the guests to send them to their taxi, even if we was alone near the counter. We were really touched by her hospitality. All other staff were also equally nice. If management is reading my review, please please please thank your staff for their dedication to maintain and grow the hotel image. Good staff will be one of strongest point, which will make definitely stay at your hotel (Somerset Inn) again. Some points of improvement can be considered : Please provide the map of whole Maldives, as guest may be interested to explore other islands as well. Money exchange for few other currencies can be arranged at hotel, while exchange rate are to be displayed.

If there was -1 rating i could have given it. First, they provide airport transfer through local ferry. This was never mentioned anywhere while booking this hotel. They asked for 10$ to get guaranteed cab on time to airport. There room window open up into someone else's home. I have attached the room ceiling photos. There bed were smaller than normal queen size. I stayed here for half an hour and booked a different hotel in hulhumale for the same day. Please do not book this hotel. It's not about the money, it's about spending the last/first night of your holiday with a good note.

This place is great for those looking to transit at Male.they have airport pick up and they also arrange for complimentary cab transfer to the ferry terminal. Many eateries nearby. The city itself is very small, so any bay is hardly 10 min walk from the hotel. Wifi speed is decent, food is average, rooms are clean (they r tiny though but works for transit if u dont have more luggage)

We stayed at the Somerset Inn for one night before heading on to Thoddoo Island and it was a great start to our time in the Maldives. After arrival at the airport, a representative from the inn was waiting for us and got us and our luggage safely on the ferry to Male City where another representative picked us up for a taxi ride to the inn. The inn itself is extremely clean and modern with comfortable beds and new showers in the rooms. We appreciated the included breakfast in the morning and the tea/coffee station provided in the room as well.

What really puts Somerset Inn head and shoulders above the rest was the exceptional kindness of the people who work here. Everyone was so friendly and kind and clearly wanted to make sure you were safe and cared for during your stay. They greeted us with iced tea at arrival, arranged for our transport to and from their sister property with the restaurant Belle Amie (also worth a visit as it was delicious!), and made sure everything was easy for us. After we moved on to Thoddoo they even called the guesthouse where we were staying to be sure we arrived safely and to ask us to call if we needed anything else during our stay!

Thank you for our great start in...

This is my second visit to Male. I stayed at Mookai last time and it was quite OK (spacious, with sea view, bath tub, pool, and good breakfast) but I wanted to try something new, so looking at positive reviews, I tried out, - a big mistake. ||At the airport, I needed to wait for a transfer more than 20 minutes as no one was there in the designated area. Then we arrived at a hotel located in a narrow street, and waited again for 30 minutes for check in.||My room was supposed to be superior but no view at all or no real window, small, no natural light, worse, AC was not working properly (I set 16 C but not chilly at all). I must say staff are helpful but they can’t resolve problems which are fundamental (AC, room size, no window etc) ||The location is central but not in a great area. You need to walk long to go anywhere and walking is not safe due to a heavy motor cycle traffic. ||My second visit to Male became miserable due to my poor hotel choice. I paid over $200 for two night stay but it is worth $30/night at most ||Don’t choose this place if you want to have a pleasant stay in Male. ||I request to speak with manager hope he can contact me before...
