Manhattan Business Hotel — Hotel in Malé

This place is a Gem.

Location: 3/5 The location was ok. Though you will not find much in the vicinity, the local market , cafes etc. in Male are walking distance and not much of an issue getting there. The entrance to the hotel is good and got parking space.

Rooms: 4/5 Lovely rooms for the price that we paid for one night. We had reserved two Standard twin rooms. They were two really spacious rooms in spite of twin beds. The staff were also kind enough to give us a free upgrade on one room and made it a Deluxe double room. The sea view from the room was amazing.

Staff: 5/5 Excellent! Very courteous and hospitable and took great care of each of our needs. I specifically would like to thank Fawaz and Indha for how they attended to our needs. There was a situation where we wanted to step out but it was raining. Since there were no Umbrellas left at the property, Fawaz was generous enough to offer his personal umbrella to us. They also helped with getting a SIM card and also getting USD converted to local money. The airport transfers were also efficiently handled by the team. I am very thankful to this team.

Breakfast: 4/5 Good breakfast. Tasty food! Helpful staff at the restaurant.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this hotel. The girl named Mishka at the reception was incredibly rude and unhelpful throughout our stay. Furthermore, the hotel's practice of holding our ID cards at the reception to enter the room is illegal and invasive.

To make matters worse, they charged us extra MVR for not paying in dollars, which is also illegal and unacceptable. Later, they handled a noise complaint in an outrageous manner by asking us to vacate the room instead of simply requesting us to keep the noise down.

When we tried to book a second room, the hotel inexplicably refused, citing a decision from the management without providing any valid reasons. As if that wasn't enough, they accused us of a guest entering the room without registering at the reception and threatened to fine us, despite our assurances that it didn't happen.

This entire experience was unprofessional, unjust, and I would strongly advise against staying...
