The Beehive — Hotel in Malé

Positives:||the in-room mini-fridge and strong AC were appreciated; the in-room desk space was great, as was the vanity area space; laundry service was prompt, though not cheap; the round-trip transportation to and from the airport was a great amenity and well organized; Vini at the reception desk is such a warm, patient, and kind presence, and her assistance and highly positive attitude make up for what the hotel lacks; the hotel is very close to the Villingili/Vilimale jetty||Negatives:||terrible overall quality and experience for an exorbitant amount of money that clearly does not get reinvested into the property's upkeep; the Wi-Fi was never available at full capacity; the shower was only slightly warm; the shower room had a window to the outside that could not be closed, which caused flying insects to enter everyday; there were always long, black hairs left all over the floor after the room was "cleaned"; large amounts of long built-up filth in the room upon close inspection; there is still actual garbage underneath the bed (an empty water bottle, a Q-tip, a candy wrapper, and someone's electrical converter plug-in); my room wasn't cleaned on my last day there; the breakfast is paltry and rather unappetizing, room 705 has a semi-opaque piece of glass above the doorway that allows the always-lit hallway light to stream into the room, which made it difficult to fall asleep (and room 705 was the only room on that floor with such a bizarre feature); other than Vini, staff are unemotional, unwelcoming, and difficult to communicate with; it's quite a walk from the hotel to the airport/Hulhumale jetty, Sultan Park, Republic Square, Friday Mosque,...

We were welcomed with warmth at this great centrally located boutique hotel with a courteous and humble staff with a desire to appropriately guide tourists.

All tourist spots & shopping destinations of Male are at a walking distance (max being 20 mins) from this Hotel.

Rooms are well designed and spacious. Though one may feel that the AC's aren't upto the mark but the weather is such that the room takes time to cool. Our request for checking the AC was immediately attended to and the already clean air filter was replaced to ensure our comfort, but the outside heat delayed the cooling which was constant thereafter, leaving no room to complain.

The bathrooms are spacious but an addition of an exhaust fan will definitely add onto the comfort

It has a simple and small restaurant with a moderately priced menu being a variety of Arabic, Continental, Indian, Indonesian cuisine. Their breakfast spread is also good.

Has a lot of local restaurants and Cafe's in its vicinity.

They also provide a complimentary pick up and drop facility to the Airport and/or Jetty upon prior request.

It was a wonderful stay which is strongly recommended.

It will be inappropriate to end this review without complimenting Mr. Aamir, the Reception Staff (my apologies for forgetting your names) and Mr. Veer who seems to live upto his training of customer service coupled with his experience which is rare to see even in most of the 5* Hotels these days.. He will surely go a long way.
