Positives:||Good location in the Zona Rio area.||The hotel felt safe and secure.||The front desk are very friendly and speak good English. The other staff I had interactions with were also very friendly (cleaning staff, staff that deliver room service)||The room service food is good and punctual.||||Negatives:||The rooms are slightly modern, yet outdated.||Rooms are lacking some basic amenities such as a fridge, coffee and desk space.||The pillows are very uncomfortable and too large to properly sleep on, I had to make pillows out of towels. The beds are comfortable though.||No outlets by the beds, the only outlets are on the opposite side of the room by the TV.||The walls are paper thin, you can hear the TV from the adjoining room as if the TV in your room is on. Also, the doors are not sound proof, you can hear everything right outside your door.||The hotel was undergoing construction which created a lot of noise throughout the day.||||The hotel should be cheaper for what it is, it should be around $50 instead of $70; therefore, I can't say the hotel is a great value. The hotel is undergoing renovations so perhaps it will be nicer once the renovations are complete and represent...
Read moreI was not super impressed with the rooms. They say in their write up that the rooms are soundproofed. That is hard to believe as I could hear the next door people talking and every time they flushed the toilet or took a shower I could hear it. The crazy thing is that there are no drinking glasses in the rooms and when I asked for one at the front desk they said they do not have glasses for the rooms. I've never heard that one before? On a personal level I like rooms with mini refrigerators in them which they don't have but I guess if you are not going to have glasses you're not going to have refrigerators.
On the good side of things the restaurant and the room service staff was really nice and caring. I especially enjoyed my morning Spanish lessons from Norma who was my waitress. I made it a point to sit in her section because of her having a big heart and kind person. The staff went out of their way to make you feel welcomed
The front desk people where a bit uppity but I guess that's just normal for the job.
Over all I would say if you are in a jam and can't find another place Real del Rio will work but nothing...
Read moreThis place is the worst possible place you can find in Tijuana. There is construction in the hotel (yes not next to the hotel, right in the hotel) and they don't tell you about it when you check-in. They say construction is mentioned on the website. Funny. It was noisy since you can hear all the noise. We could not sleep at all, we had headaches after a few hours, the noise was that strong. When I politely asked for another room, they said there is no available room. I checked online bookings, they had many available rooms, they did not want to waste ready rooms obviously. After complaining for a few minutes, they said they can refund the money since I did not want to stay, after all, they said yes. 1 hour after this conversation, I checked out and they said construction started at 7 AM so I had 4-5 hours before 7 AM to sleep. They said they can't refund the money. It was like a huge joke when they said I had 5 hours to sleep before 7 AM. The main elevator is not working, you have to take the service elevator in the construction, it was very unsafe. The receptionist was disrespectful and threatening. Just book...
