Enigmatic Hotel Experience Cancún — Hotel in Cancún

The good: yummy breakfast (4 options), really boho hip rooms, lots of space and light in the room we purchased, great hot water and pressure! Great location with lots of delicious options for food nearby, close to everything . The loungers by the pool are nice, and have umbrellas, the pool is nice to hang out by during the day. We booked on booking.com and the price was cheaper and included breakfast. Stayed here in June/July 2025.

Not so good: The bed was really hard, I ended up asking for a couple pillow toppers and got creative. Might be fine for someone who likes firm. Also, One of the main reasons we booked is that there was a communal kitchen. Since we were staying for 2 weeks, it was important to have access to a kitchen to cook. A few days into our stay, they locked the kitchen, and one of the ladies at the service desk kept told us it was never for guests. Which is not true, we checked with the other guy at the front desk and he agreed with us (and the booking description/reservation) that the kitchen is communal. We had been in the kitchen prior and there are plenty of signs for guests, I don’t know why she was trying to gaslight us 😅. Luckily gentlemen, at the front desk talked to the other woman and we were able to borrow a key for the kitchen for the rest of our stay (thank you!). We are in Cancún often, we will only book again if the kitchen stays communal as promised in the booking description. We always left it cleaner than we found it!

I actually booked a SINGLE ROOM for 3 nights which was very important to me. The booking confirmation I received just included the date & the nights. There was nothing in it confirming what kind of room I booked & how much I have to pay. So it just made me trust the hostel getting the booking right. Arriving at the check in the guy told me I booked a room in a 6 bed female dorm, which wasn’t the case. So I ended up having only 2 nights in a single room then changing rooms (on a day that was already planned & fully packed), discussing at the reception that I booked a single room & in the end also getting blamed by the manager that the booking must be my fault. This made my whole stay stressful, not a nice experience & put me in a position were I felt shit. If the confirmation email would have said I booked a 6 bed female dorm I would have corrected it right away. But because it didn’t say anything I trusted them which was obviously a big mistake. This is really bad customer service. Double & triple check your booking confirmation. This seems like a bis scam not sending out any details about the room & the price and then even blame the guest that it must be...

For my first time as a solo traveler, I couldn’t except a more pleasant stay. When I arrived Santiago directly made me feel at home. The room and communs places are really clean and peaceful. There is a lot a vegetation, it’s a very nice place. The personal is very respectful. Special mention to Dani at the front desk. Check the localisation, can’t be more better. The bus ADO is just next to the hostel. Very useful to come or visit the rest of Mexico. Or even to go in South America if you are a backpacker who is visiting the all continent.
