It was the last night of my wife and my vacation in Mexico and we were tired and hungry from coming back to the mainland from Cozumel. We decided to leave the hotel and at least see what Cancun had to offer. With no working phones we couldn't look up a lot of information about restaurants and decided to just walk the streets and hopefully find someplace good to eat. That's when we stumbled upon El Socio Naiz Tapueria. Richard and the whole staff welcomed us with smiles. Richard took the time to get to know us and where we were going on our vacation. He assured us that we would love the food and he set my wife's worries to rest about not finding a place that had great vegetarian options. We decided to trust in all of Richards recommendations and we were not disappointed. Every bite was better than the last. Every drink was better than the last. We tried almost all of their seasonal fall specialties and loved every single one of them. The Taconmiedo were the best tacos I had this trip! The party didn't stop there. Richard could tell that I still had room in the ol stomach and recommended the Torta Pa'l Susto. He hadn't steered me wrong so far and he didn't disappoint. I didn't want the meal to end. We ordered a few cocktails and the presentation of these drinks were 10/10. We all eat with our eyes first. Richard was an amazing waiter and would check on us often to make sure we were enjoying everything as well as to clear our table. Of course we had to get dessert even though we were full. The churros hit that sweet spot! We felt like we could have stayed there all night and no one would have said anything. But all good things must come to an end. Unfortunately El Socio Naiz didn't have a wheelbarrow to take me out of the restaurant so I had to walk out on my own two legs. My stomach was full of amazing food and my heart with the memories of a wonderful evening. Richard also saved the day again because when we circled back to the restaurant in order to use their wifi to call an Uber Richard met us in the parking lot. He explained to us that after we left he noticed that my wife had left her purse and he set it aside for when we eventually noticed and came searching. We were having such an amazing time that night that we didn't notice till he approached us. Richard is a star and deserves all the good things that are coming to him. I hope our paths cross again. Thank you Richard and El Socio...
Read moreDelicious culinary experience while I got stuck in Cancún overnight due to a missed connection at the airport. Not a bad place to be stranded, and if you’re nearby El Socio Naiz, I highly recommend their tacos!
As others have said, it’s a unique experience unlike traditional street tacos, but incredible nonetheless! I tried the Traditional Trompo Naiz, which was probably the best Al Pastor I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for authentic, I’d say this is the most basic street taco on the menu, but with incredible flavor!
My other choice was the Campechana tacos (New York Strip, Chistorra, Garlic Cheese, Onion Jam, and Waka Waka). To be honest, I probably would have tried something else on this one as the steak wasn’t super noticeable. Maybe I just enjoyed the Al Pastor too much for this one to even compare, but I ended up trying the number ours sauces on these two.
Speaking of sauces, the creamy garlic was delicious, as was the tamarind, the habanero, honestly all of them were great! Fun to mix and match different flavors.
I also got an ice cream dessert that was super refreshing on the hot, humid evening! It had what I believe were lucky charms marshmallows sprinkled over it with two scoops of vanilla in a cone-like shell.
Service was wonderful with the server speaking English to help me out. Very friendly and inviting even as I came a a pretty early hour for dinner. No indoor seating, so if it’s warm out, try to grab a seat near the fans, or just expect the forehead glisten with the humid and spice! All in all, it was a great experience and I loved it! I’m very happy I stumbled upon this place right around the corner...
Read moreWe came here for dinner. We were served by a waiter who was obviously new in this restaurant. I asked him if the healthy taco's were vegan instead of vegetarian. He claimed those were indeed vegan. So I ordered 2 of those. When he brought me those taco's, I instantly noticed There was non vegan sauce on them. Secondly we didn't have napkins on our table. When we asked for them, it took almost 10 (!) Minutes until he came back to us telling that they ran out of napkins. All tables did have napkins... I asked if he could bring us some of the other tables but he told us that was not possible 🙄 so I went to the bathroom and got me some napkins over there. He also didn't suggest that we could choose the colour of our taco's, for which the restaurant is famous. We asked for it ourselves but I don't think he understood everything in English. Too bad because that's why we chose to have dinner There. Last but not least he told me in the beginning That ladies could drink 2 cocktails and only pay for one. I had to ask myself for second drink and when I checked the bill, we had to pay for both of them. When I asked him to refund one of that it took again ages until it was fixed. Another waiter came to us very friendly with the money of the second cocktail. We really appreciated that. You have such a nice and beautiful restaurant with an amazing concept. Too bad we had a really bad experience because of this probably newly...
