If you're looking for amazing food and want to relax and maybe golf, come here. If you want fun entertainment and a good beach, maybe choose a different resort.
ACTIVITIES/ENTERTAINMENT Very chill environment, they had the usual aqua aerobic, yoga, volleyball, spanish lesson activities, but the other ones were very Mind-body-spirit themed experiences (sage away, sound meditation, new moon celebration, tarot reading, etc). It really lacked on nightly entertainment EXCEPT the violinist and sax player, they were top notch, but more lobby music. View is pretty over the golf course and we loved the rooftop. Easy access and discounts to the golf course, we played and loved it. They provide transport. We didn't go to aquaworld even though it's included (flowrider surfing, paddleboard, canoes). Bocce was fun and pickleball was great, but have to play in the evenings when shaded. Really wish there were billiard tables and ping pong in the lobbies.
FOOD Restaurants and food is the best I've had at an all-inclusive (we've been to other secrets and dreams). Ceviche was out of control delicious--I could have eaten that all day. The japanese restaurant had the best skewered dishes--we loved the fish, steak, pineapple, veggies. The sushi was ok, but appetizers like goyza and tempura veggies were so good. View, ambiance and service were top notch. French restaurant did not disappoint- highly recommend the sea bass and the desserts YUM! we went twice just for the creme brulee. Italian restaurant was good, the watermelon salad is a must try. Don't bother with the pizza. Ice cream at the buffet was superb, and the buffet food in general was pretty good--really good fruit, bruchetta, tacos, eggs, decent sushi, AMAZING French toast. Chilaquiles were super good too, red sauce, they make it fresh for you. We loved the taco truck desserts(opened Fri/Sat) --churros and flan, So good! The same mexican menu can be found in the evenings (Sun-Thurs) inside where the buffet is located.
BEACH Not great, on a small piece of beach. The cancun sign is next door but wasn't really a beach you'd want to walk far on (or swim in at least in July). Beach club food however was amazing, had Sunday brunch there too. Go at least for the view and to eat, but not really a place to hang out all day.
POOLS Long and narrow, but fun. They leave the aqua-yoga mats floating and the aqua-cycle bikes in one of the pools, plus the front desk has volleyballs and footballs to play with. And boardgames! Lots of beach chairs. Rooftop pool is pretty cool, again long and narrow, amazing views. Pools are open later than other resorts for evening swims. There’s a louder music boisterous pool, and the other pool is next to it but far enough away that it’s quieter and more chill.
ROOMS/AMBIANCE I'd recommend golf view. Rooms were very nice and clean, 2 rain shower heads and a handheld in the large showers. Bed was super comfy. Liked having a steamer instead of iron. Balcony was nice and we sat on it quite a bit (but we had pool view/bay view) It can get a little noisy on that side at night with the DJ parties. I think the more up-graded rooms have a tub, ours didn't- There was a spot in the bathroom for a tub but we had just a bench. On the property there are hammock, swings, and lots of places to lounge, we sat on the rooftop at night enjoying the breeze.
GYM Nice! Good amount of weight equipment, some treadmills and bikes, yoga mats. Incredible view, it’s all glass on the rooftop, very inviting.
DRINKS/MOCKTAILS One for the best resorts, almost every drink was great. They had fruit infused water at every bar every day which was super nice to stay hydrated and delicious. They have their own mocktail menu---you have to try the Honey Apple (passionfruit and honey w/ sprite)
Overall we had a fun time, we probably wouldn’t come here just because we love a good beach and love entertainment at night. I will say though, they outdid themselves in the food category. Nice hotel in the hotel zone but compared to other dreams/secrets it was lacking things to do...
Read moreI’ve never experienced a hotel so unpleasantly loud in my life. I can’t wait to leave to have some peace and quiet. We chose this hotel especially because it was away from the strip. We knew cancun was lively and we wanted something a little more peaceful but with the option to go to the strip. So this hotel was perfect for us. And also most adults only hotels aim towards a relaxing experience, this isn’t the case.
Positives: Great design and decor, looks cool. Amazing staff especially Maria (buffet) Food is nice and varied. Clean. Amazing showers
Negatives: Not sure where to start. Fundamentally the hotel lacks its identity and is still under construction physically and idealistically, it’s too far from the strip to be party, and too loud to be relaxing The room: There’s the strongest smell of the kitchen that comes through the air vents in the toilet and shower. In fact there’s strange smells in many parts of this hotel. Including the lobby area. That smelt really bad most days. The rooms are echoing and loud and lack sound proofing, you can hear everything. I’ve had to endure 2 arguments from the neighbours, drunk people on the corridors most nights, and you can hear everything through the doors even basic level conversations. The terrace doors in both our rooms didn’t close properly and whistled. Never once had a lie in because of cleaning noises or bangs on the wall from the cleaners closing draws or neighbours packing. One of the loudest hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The aircon is super loud if you put it above the minimum fan speed. I’m super light sensitive when I sleep and it has to be dark. The rooms are awful for that. The curtains let in so much light around the borders. Also there ls ZERO lights on the balcony….
The noise complaints continue with the whole hotel. It’s the loudest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. You can’t get peace and quiet anywhere or even just a nice quiet corner where the noise levels are acceptable or they play a nice calmer music. at the downstairs pool you can’t even hear yourself think because of the awful ONE speaker system that blasts the most awful dance music out. Now and again you’ll get some nice chilled pool music but generally it’s awful dance music. Trying to escape the ONE supersonic loud speaker doesn’t help as the noise just bounces off the building to all sunbeds even the back ones on the upper deck It’s the same in the lobby on an evening, the awfully loud one speaker.
The outside green ambient speakers at the upper decks actually play good music, but is drowned out by the one speaker playing a different music, which then just gives you a headache as they’re playing two different types of music.
Beach club: same again one speaker set up playing the loudest music ever. It’s escapable by going to the bottom beds near the sea but then you’re just met with the building construction noise next door, 50 meters above your head. And that was loud both days I went.
There was one day I got a pool bed away from the loud music at the main pools near the toilets. To then be met with more construction noise as they started drilling the stairs of the new “sister hotel” next door. Another day further back at the decking to be met with sanding of the decking that lasted all day. ( this continued everyday day and night) maintenance that should be done in the hotels down times. The back decking, sways when anyone walks past. Make sure you don’t suffer from motion sickness and I got bit by so many midges/mosquitos as you’re so close to the swamp/lagoon water.
It’s obvious that they’re drowning out the sound of the construction at both the hotel and the beach club with the music. THERE IS A LOT OF CONSTRUCTION, just depends where you are and how lucky you are if it’s going to be loud or not!
The pools both main one and the upstairs ones, I stubbed my toes/nails in all of them. Big chunks of the plaster has come away leaving big pot holes and uneven floors.
the shuttle service to the beach is crazy when you’re going. We tried on two days and gave up and got an...
Read moreA lovely experience at Hyatt Vivid Grand Island! Visited with a large group of 50+ for a friends joint bachelor/ette party and we all had a blast.
To start the resort is new and the rooms were well updated. Loved the bathroom with dual rainfall shower head. Beds were exceptionally comfortable, but honestly did not spend much time in the room.
The daily calendar of events I thought was fairly robust from yoga and wellness classes, cooking classing, saging and cacao ceremonies and more. Some of the instructors including Gigi (sage), Stephany (rooftop sunset yoga- not to be missed), and Jill (stretching) were all rock stars - although they were contracted through a 3rd party company.
Some breathtaking spaces on this property highlighted the rooftop pool! I see many other reviews say folks had to pay extra for this experience but I don’t see how that’s possible as one of the restaurants and the gym are also located on the rooftop.
On the topic of food everything we had was in my opinion quite fresh and tasty. My fiancé and I are vegan / vegetarian and we truly appreciate how accommodating the staff was. We were asked prior to every meal if we had any restrictions or allergies and they clearly marked menus with allergens. Even with that I didn’t feel restricted and the Mexican, Mediterranean and Japanese restaurants were quite good. Traveling with a large group the staff was accommodating and usually able to sit our group fairly quickly, however I would recommend making reservations. Also enjoyed the buffet for breakfast and I thought the Mexican food stations here were a highlight - loved the fresh tostadas.
Pool staff during the day kept the main pool lively and fun! Mexican chocolate angel made a water aerobics class one of the highlights of our trip. again plenty of activities all day long. Guillermo was excellent for pool/bar serving and was very attentive. He remembered us even as we were leaving and could be seen working so hard throughout the trip. I hope he gets his flowers! Eduardo for breakfast!
If you wanted to be away from the action there’s also plenty of other cozy places to sit with a little more peace. I never felt like I was looking for somewhere to settle down.
It’s easy to be skeptical of the properties lack of beachfront access, but again I think this ended up being a highlight as the properties included beach club feels more like a trendy tulum dayclub and to have that experience included was great. Once you arrive at ennea beach club there’s 3 unique spaces and levels. The first is the ground party pool area which was lively but not offensive. If you want more quiet head down to the beach front loungers and day beds. Lastly the top beach club restaurant was delicious and perfect for a lunch with epic views and vibes. Again this property shined in its seating a furniture- everything felt so comfortable and honestly quite a bit more luxurious than the price point suggests.
Since you do have to take a shuttle to the beach club- I would plan accordingly, especially if you are going to push it to the end of the day. This experience ought to be improved as the shuttle is quite small and this can lead to some competition in trying to grab the shuttle- even ahead of those that had been waiting ahead of you. I would recommend a larger vehicle perhaps to transport more patrons at once. I will say that even if you can’t get the shuttle it’s literally a $5 uber if it comes to that.
You won’t find any nightclub or anything but the lobby bar does perfectly fine for dancing and late night tunes with a great DJ playing a mix of top hits new and old. I’ll say all of the live DJ entertainment was great in all of the spaces and appropriate for the environments.
Long and short this resort is an absolute crowd please with truly something for everyone. As someone who was admittedly an all inclusive skeptic this made me a believer!
Lastly I do have to thank my friends Liz and Peter who organized such a great trip and worked with the property to create an amazing weekend we won’t...
