Golden Paradise Town — Hotel in Isla Holbox

We arrived at holbox for 3 days, for a nice relaxing vacation.||We thought we were lucky enough to snag this deal for two nights at 67 us dollars ,not bad right?....OF COURSE it was too good to be true upon arrival we discover that we were actually charged 100 dollars because of ,""taxes"" (since when are taxes so high in Mexico).||Rooms and common areas are unkept, grass is not cut, and to top it off this place has more rules than an all inclusive resort. Seriously these guys want to charge you for ANYTHING dirty sheets, dirty towels,smoke smell in a room even though we specified for a smokeable room ,breathing....etc .We were lucky enough to have a/c in our room we just didn't expect it to sound like NASA was doing test flights in our room. And finally something a little more personal... we are very friendly people we do not mind to share food or be generous with people. The woman in charge here, pressured me into giving her a candy bar....on a normal day i would have no issue sharing my delicious snickers with her...but treat us like criminals? ..charge us 32 dollars extra?...and pressure me into giving you my candy bar?! Finally the cherry on top of our banana split disaster is ants...LOTS OF THEM...||After the storm honesty half Holbox and this hotel is underwater and they got upset with us because our room was a bit wet, using our common sense we used our towles infested by ants to dry our room a bit, and of course upon checkout the witch that runs this place along with her trusty sidekick clone son wanted to charge us for ""dirty towels"". Toilets did not flush, no extra toilet paper was given, and little to no water pressure, or water for that matter in the bathrooms.. last thing your always on camera....wherever you may be....extremley creepy lots of cameras, ALL THE TIME.||Oh! And the wifi! It will log you out every 5 minutes.. good that we know the 15 digit password by heart by now.||I travel a lot and have seen lots of sketchy hostels but never a place like this.||So please you can take my extra 32 dollars just fix this place up. Or save yourself this absolute nightmare and find a much better place for much cheaper, with much nicer...

NOS ROBAN EN EL HOTEL!

Hola buenas tardes a todos chicos/as, quería contaros mi experiencia en el hotel golden paradise town en #Holbox , el que está detrás del Colegio. En primer lugar nos dieron una habitación de la cual nos tuvieron que cambiar porque estaba lleno de cucarachas, polvo, telarañas, larvas de cucaracha y hasta un muñeco "troll" debajo de la cama. Esto nos hizo que pensar que había una gran falta de higiene. Inmediatamente se lo dijimos al chico de la recepción y al ver la habitación, muy amablemente nos cambio a otra, está si estaba limpia y cuidada.

A la mañana siguiente nos fuimos a disfrutar de las paradisíacas playas de Holbox y por miedo a que nos lo quitasen en la playa, dejamos parte de nuestro dinero en la habitación. Cuando volvimos al hotel y estábamos agarrando las bicicletas, nos percatamos de que nuestra habitación estaba abierta, y una chica en las escaleras que estaba barriendo hizo una seña( nos pareció una situación rara y extraña)y salió una persona de nuestra habitación. Subimos y nos dijo la señora que estaba dentro que iban a hacer el servicio de limpieza que acababa de abrir la habitación y no la había dado tiempo aún, nos dice que como hemos llegado ya la harán más tarde. ( la habitación no nos la hicieron en todo el día).

Esa misma tarde íbamos a cambiar dinero porque queríamos hacer la excursión del tiburón ballena ( la hicimos con PULPEROS DEL CARIBE, muy recomendado hacerlo con ellos). Al contar el dinero nos dimos cuenta que nos faltaba parte de lo que habíamos dejado en la habitación, inmediatamente fuimos a hablar con la mujer de la recepción a contarle lo sucedido. ( antes de irnos a la playa teníamos ese dinero). Cuando estábamos hablando de lo sucedido, apareció una mujer llamada María,supuestamente la mánager del hotel, y casualmente la misma mujer que encontramos dentro de la habitación. Al escucharnos se puso bastante nerviosa, nos trato muy mal y nos puso de mentirosas. La dijimos que queríamos ver las cámaras para saber quién había entrado a nuestra habitación ya que ella decía que no había cogido nada. Nos dijo que iba a mirar las cámaras. Durante la tarde fuimos a preguntar varias veces y no obtuvimos respuesta. Por esto fuimos a hablar con la policía porque nos parece muy injusto lo que pasó en este hotel. La policía intento dialogar con ella pero no hubo manera, se negó a enseñar las cámaras si no había denuncia( sabe que denunciar es un jaleo y deberíamos volver a testificar en unos meses).

Realmente os contamos esta experiencia para animaros a que si os pasa algo así, en cualquier parte del mundo os manifesteis sobre estas injusticias y por si estabais pensando ir a este hotel, que os lo penséis dos veces...

The bedrooms are across different little "cabins" with toilets in another building and a communal kitchen area where you can cook breakfast etc. ||||The receptionist (Luciano) was super nice and helpful, and even offered to take myself and another guest to Punta Coco to see the sunset after we expressed interest to go see it but did not know how to get there. ||||The twin room my friend and myself stayed at was clean (and cleaned every day), basic but we did not expect anything more anyway. The hammock area is nice and relaxing to chill and read a book in. ||||The kitchen was a bit messy sometimes after lots of people cooked there but it was good to have it there. ||||The wifi was not very good. ||||Don't expect this to be a fancy hotel, if you want an affordable stay and a clean and tidy place to sleep while you explore the island this is a...
