Had a taste for seafood pasta this evening, and saw El Crustaceo online with good reviews. We were seated without issue, without a reservation and welcomed with smiles by the staff. We were given time to look at both the drink and food menu, and our initial waitress, Marlene understood and respected that we wanted to enjoy a cocktail first. Both the Negroni and Mezcal Caribe were well prepared by the bar tender Hernan, presented with class, and tasted wonderful. The other waiter, Benjamin came to take our food order without delay when we signaled to him that we were ready to order. Marlene brought our roasted veggie salad out in good time. It was delicious and plentiful. We also ordered the Fettuccine Mariscos carbonara, and the Fettuccine Mariscos con langosta. Both were large portions with plenty of seafood in good sized pieces. The sauce was sweet, tomato'ie and tangie, and both dishes came out piping hot, along with crostini garlic bread, and extra grated parmessan. The staff were attentive through the evening, but never made us feel rushed. When the staff noticed some patrons were being bothered by mosquitos, they lit many insect repellant coils and handed out spray bottles of repellant to patrons who needed it. In all honesty, there was a nice breeze that night, so my husband and I weren't bothered by any insects. All in all, a delightful evening with very tasty food, large portions and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend this restaurant, and promise that...
Read moreWorst restaurant experience in Mexico. LATE FOOD: Arrived at 7:30 PM for dinner. Ordered within 5 minutes, including guacamole as an appetizer. I even made sure to tell them (in Spanish) that the guacamole was an appetizer that should be brought before everything else. Guacamole took almost 30 minutes to arrive! THe rest of the food arrived at 8:25 PM, almost one hour after ordering! "NO RICE": I ordered fish with shrimp and my friend ordered chicken fajitas. They told us when we ordered that both dishes came with rice as a side. When our food arrived one hour late it didn't have any rice. We complained immediately and the waiter said: "oh, we ran out of rice" (seriously?!). They saw we were extremely unhappy, and 10 minutes later (when we were half the way through our food) another waiter showed up... with a bowl of rice! Saying "sorry, here is some rice". RIPOFF: I ordered a Sol beer and remember that the menu said MXN 30. When the bill came they wrote MXN 35. I don't care about the amount, but it absolutely pisses me off that they tried to rip us off by charging a different amount. BAD LOCATION: This restaurant is in the middle of nowhere. I would walk half an hour if the food was delicious, the atmosphere was good or if this was a hidden gem. But this place is not any of that. If I could give 0...
Read moreEl Crustaceo Kascarudo clearly is the best restaurant we went to during our trip in the beautiful country that is Mexico. Holbox is a paradise on earth, and El Crustaceo Kascarudo an hidden gem in that paradise. The service is exceptional: Raul and Benjamin, our waiters, are both incredibly nice, helpful, attentive, and they took time to have a real and super interesting exchange with us. The food was delicious. The first night, we took the tacos de Camarones to start with - so good - and the Tuna steak and fish of the day, Mexican style. We got shots on the house at the end of the dinner. We decided to extend our stay in Holbox and went back there for our last night - best decision. We had the pico de gallo and fried shrimps to start, and again the tacos de camarones and tuna steak as it was so good the first time. Prices are reasonable. Their Micheladas, Mezcal Margaritas and normal (tequila) Margaritas also were a success. 20/10 to this amazing restaurant where you’ll eat like a King and meet...
