We were initially due to stay at another hotel.. however it was genuinely horrifying. So booked here literally last minute. ||We had a very warm welcome from the staff. We were shown where we were on the island in relation to highlights and places of interest. Then we were taken to our room, where we literally dropped out belongings and headed straight out. Initially being quite impressed with the aesthetics and the room. ||We spent the evening hunting for the Bioluminescence (not worth it in my opinion, at least not trying to walk it, many roads inaccessible and my son and wife ended up with well over 150 mosquito bites each). ||We returned to the hotel having had a meal out. The room was roasting hot. The air con was broken however it was too late to do anything. ||We went for breakfast. Wow! Pancakes with fruit... Genuinely fantastic! So so so impressed, never thought I would say that about pancakes! Mentioned the air con, after trying to mend it we were moved room. Not a problem for us at all. The room from here on was perfect! ||The rooms are spacious enough for a famaily. They're clean and decorated lovely. The hotel itself is like a paradise! It's stunning. Wooden beams, thatched roofs, flowers, palm trees and a lovely pool to cool off in. ||Honestly we couldn't have been happier with the hotel. No need for a late check out. The staff happily had our bags in the reception room and we were able to grab a shower in a side room before heading for the ferry home.||As for the island itself. Will we go again? Probably not. Many flooded roads. A lot of rubbish/garbage knocking around. The north east side of the island is much nicer in fairness. The west is not so nice. That said, anything along the beach side is lovely. But far more eateries and bars to the east. ||The food on the island... Exceptional. We didn't each anything sub par. Really really impressed with the standard of the food. ||Unfortuantely the hours spent trying to get back from Punta Coco and the mosquito bites ruined the whole experience for us. Absolutely no...
Read moreThe room was quite big, bed comfortable, shower ok and with hot water, it just takes a while until it starts. We appreciated that hotel provided drinkable water, it was possible to take it at the reception. We also had breakfast which was good.
Only inconvenience is the fact that it is very complicated to get there. It is 10 minutes by walk to the city center, but this is not a problem. Problem is that the road is flooded. And it is not only the case when it rains but just in front of the hotel it is flooded the whole time probably. The water stinks a lot, there are algues inside…in our case we had to hold to branches and jump from one rock to another one to reach the hotel. And every time when you go to the city you have to do that. It is not hotel’s fault, but the location is really unfortunate. Dont go there if you have big luggage, small kids or you don’t feel you can manage to hold to branches. We had only backpacks but still, I was worried to slip and fall into the water as it stinks so much and you don’t know how deep it is…Maybe you can take a taxi to go there, but no idea how deep the water is and if it can pass without you being covered by stinky water… Not sure if the hotel can do something about this and build a passage to reach the hotel securely. It is a big minus and a real pity as otherwise the hotel is nice. But I would not stay there again due to this road problem. It can be a real pain especially when you return to your hotel in the dark after dinner.
To answer what was shared by the hotel: yes obviously we followed google maps to get there, as we do always when we go to a new place. So please check your location on google maps as apparently is not correct. It might help...
Read moreIt’s taken me longer than I would’ve liked to write this review as I was and still am very traumatised by what happened and I would really like the owners of the hotel to contact me. I stayed here beginning of May with a couple of friends and on our second to last night the manager insisted on cooking us dinner as he said it was something he wanted to try out with guests of the hotel who stay longer than a couple of days. We got all of the groceries and him and a woman made us food and he made cocktails. We invited him to sit after the meal as we thought he was really sweet and had been super helpful throughout our stay. After 30 minutes or so me and my friends went to our rooms. I then woke up to the hotel manager in my room, he was touching me. He looked surprised that I had woken up and said the door was open ( it wasn’t, I checked it before I went to sleep but the lock on the door of that particular room was faulty and didn’t have a double lock which is maybe why he placed me in that room? ) and he had brought me a cocktail, when I said no to the drink he said he was really good at foot massages and asked if I wanted one. I said no thank you, he left the room and I ran up to the room my friends were staying in. I was hysterical obviously and terrified. We then booked another hotel for our last night and I slept in the room with them.
I wasn’t sure how else to handle this as I imagine he receives the hotels emails Below are some photos of the drink he brought to my room and his hat that he...
