I was contemplating writing this review because the staff at The hotel are very nice but I think it’s important future travelers know what they are getting themselves into. My husband and I are on our honeymoon and when we first checked into the hotel we were given a room with a double and single bed. I was certain I had reserved a king size room. The guy told me that he didn’t have one.. after a few minutes, a room was available with a king size bed. When we got to our room we were ready to take a hot shower and go to bed after a long day! There weren’t any towels so we called down and the front desk person brought us some towels. We then turned on the shower... ten minutes later the water was still ICE COLD ! We tried every combination you could think of to get it hot but it didn’t work. We took our cold shower, hopped into bed and went to research what we wanted to do in playa the next day... no internet! I called the front desk and they said the internet doesn’t work with iPhones or iPads! What?? So we decided to go to sleep. This was difficult with the crazy loud noises! ||The next morning I told the new person at the front desk and I was assured it would be fixed while we were out for the day. We came back later that evening and nothing had been fixed. The next day I spoke with the owner, Fabiola and told her how disappointed we were having no internet and no hot water for the last two days: she begged me... “ I promise I will make this right! Please give me another chance! We will fix everything and if not we will move you to a better room!” I told her ok, yet when we came back still nothing was fixed! At this point I was pretty angry! I asked to be moved to the “better room” we were promised... and guess what? They told me they were full and had no other king size rooms!! That evening, there was a huge club next door that was playing pounding music until 3am. Finally the next day I told Fabiola we wanted to cancel the rest of our reservation! ||Fabiola said all the right things but when it came down to it, she never did anything to make our stay better. We cancelled the last two night of our reservations and moved hotels. Best...
Read moreJust back from a week a this nice hotel. We very much enjoyed our stay. We are not all inclusive people, we do not usually eat in "tourist" restaurants, especially in Mexico. Our modus operandi is local places. I booked this hotel off of another review that said "clean hotel and comfortable beds". That was right on. The hotel and our room was cleaned immaculately (thank you Mimi!) I would say top quality mattresses. I sleep with my fit bit, and often lightly - in a normal night at home I get 17-35 steps just jostling in the bed at night. At this hotel I was shocked to wake up with zero steps on my fit bit most days. ||||Location, about 4-5 blocks from the main tourist walking street. Another few blocks to the main/best swimming beach in Playa. Its a little far from the Collectivo buses to other towns - on 2nd ave... but only a Stones throw from local ice cream (20 pesos cones) and many tasty local restaurants. Natural food market across the street, Walmart close by too. Nice neighborhood for the most part. Local coffee and breakfast close by - but the cafe in the pictures isn't there anymore. ||||Nice: They make free coffee in the morning - which is nice ... I think unusual in Mexico - they don't seem to be a coffee culture. They leave you two bottles of drinking water every day and another nice touch - they have cold and hot drinking water in each hallway. Each day they make towel animals on your bed, like a cruise. Good A/C especially on hot afternoons arriving to a cool room was a relief. In room refrigerator for beer or milk or whatever.. We asked for a room in the back of the hotel (away from the vegetable market across the street) and had no noise issues. Rooms on the front had a nice balcony. We used the one at the end of the hall. ||||Strikes - our TV was a little spotty - mostly operating in black and white but we were able to get the language setting to English. There are Wifi stations all over the place in the hotel and it was good in our room but not so good in the hallways. The shower was a little hard to dial the temperature in on. ||||Really a very...
Read moreCleaning staff is the best they keep rooms and the bathroom of the room very clean. And they are sooo welcoming and friendly!!! : ). ||||||Requested room w / 2 balconies was told already taken , there 11 days not once was there someone in that room . I know because they put me in room next to it never once was used . And cleaning staff asked me" why didn't I get that room? you have for the last 2 yrs." ||Not thanked for returning for the 3rd time or even acknowledged that we have been there before by reception staff . Reception staff has been the same for 3 yrs yet cleaning crew remembers me .||||The Ugly ||||||Reception staff ||Water pressure is super low if you have long or thick hair it will never rinse , I always bring a big 60 oz cup to rinse hair with ||water is almost always always COLD in shower in the morning. Only took 1 hot shower in the morning all others were cold. Wifi only works in hallway or if standing next to entry door to room.||||So if you need a place w / AC , clean ,and don't spend much time in room it's great ! It is in walking distance to EVERYTHING food, shopping (Walmart& Mega ) ,beach money exchange , 5ta but I try to stay away from there . Like I said I will return just wish reception was more welcoming. reception Doesn't have to kiss my butt but please be a little friendlier w/out us you don't have a job. ||||||||Side note tip||If you want to eat at EL FOGON on the corner and don't want to have to wait because at dinner there is always a wait . There is one to the north of hotel about 4-6 blocks and one to the south also about 4-6 blocks . They are both just as good and busy but rarely a wait and if so no more that 10 min as opposed to an hr...
