Did not have a great experience here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. They seated us at a table not 3 feet from the kitchen, which to be more specific was right next to the blenders and maple syrup jars. As a result, we could barely a hold a conversation because the blenders were going the entire time and the maple syrup had attracted 8-10 big flys so we constantly had several flys over us and around our table while we tried to eat. The food was very average, nothing notable. I had the ranchero eggs and my partner had pancakes+eggs+bacon and we were both very underwhelmed. The coffee was also not great, but that’s subjective I suppose. The food was definitely overpriced considering you can get the same food (higher quality) for much less at La Cocina near Juarez and 45th. The servers also largely ignored us which led to some frustrating moments, like when they served my coffee but didn’t bring any sugar for about another 10 minutes.
PROs: English menu Juices/smoothies seemed good but we didn’t try them
CONs Poor service Really bad seating (If you get seated next to the kitchen) Mediocre and overpriced food Pretty loud environment (ESPECIALLY if you’re seated next to the kitchen)
Conclusion: There are much better places to get breakfast in my humble opinion, both in terms of food quality and price. I definitely recommend trying La Cocina near...
Read moreLa Ceiba de la 30 is an excellent restaurant serving healthy, tasty and fresh food in Playa del Carmen, with lots of vegetarian options as well.
I enjoyed breakfast at this restaurant on my last morning in Playa del Carmen in the fall of 2015.
La Ceiba de la 30 is a small, casual and charming open-air restaurant located on Avenida 30 between Avenida Constituyentes and Calle 20. It is attached to the popular and local DAC Market, where you can find lots of fresh and organic vegetables, fruits, spices, herbs and other ingredients. The restaurant serves healthy and vegetarian food options (with lots of yummy breakfast choices) as well as traditional Mexican favourites and a variety of tasty and fresh juices and smoothies!
I ordered the huevos rancheros and a green juice. Both tasted absolutely delicious, flavourful, wholesome and fresh! Everything was priced very reasonably as well.
The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant and quiet on a Sunday morning and I was the only person eating there at the time.
I recommend visiting this charming restaurant for breakfast or lunch and make sure to check out the local produce market next...
Read moreSo I went to eat there and ordered there fish fillet but there higher quality fish because lots of restaurants sell basa or tilapia which is a cheaper fresh water fish and say it’s fresh grouper, anyways ceiba gives you the option of having a salt water fish for double the price that I’m ok with , now the waitress was new and did not know how to put the order in so eventually when my fish filet came it in fact was the cheap fresh water fish so i complained but once I understood it was the new waitress fault it’s something that can happen and I was ok with so I asked if they had wahoo or mahi mahi and they said yes so I asked for one, returned the fish with garlic and side of green pasta how I ordered it , now if I was the chef and I saw the client got his plate messed up you would think he would do a effort to make a good second dish well this did not happen, fish fillet came dry with no garlic sauce like I ordered previously and the side of green pasta was the same pasta from the original plate cold and all the chef did was ad more cheese on top and slap it on my new plate and didn’t even have the decency to reheat...
