Kopo Yoga — Local services in Playa del Carmen

I had the pleasure of taking a variety of classes at Kopo Yoga during my week here in Playa Del Carmen and I can say without hesitation that this is one of the most incredible studios I’ve ever been too. The space is beautiful, open concept with fresh air circulating as you train. That aside, there is a great sense of community here. The instructors that I had the most experience with were Mariel (owner), Martin, Karla, Bearnice and Russ and they were all beyond incredible. Great energy, vibrant and genuinely cared about the students in their class. Mariel has done an incredible job here at building a wonderful team and a great environment for growth. If you’re staying in Playa for vacation or for a longer period of time and are looking for a place to practice yoga this is your place in my opinion. The classes are fantastic and everyone is really nice, but the space isn’t so serene—the chatter and music from a cafe (literally 2m away without any solid walls between) is quite distracting. The evening classes are much more quiet. Additionally, the morning vinyasa and power yoga classes are extremely crowded, mats are ~50cm apart. This is likely because they operate on an honor system—no one is checking to confirm you have a membership or have registered for the class—anyone can arrive with a mat and join. Finally, in many classes I attend, at least one student sets up their phone on a tripod to record their entire practice, including others in their shot, & assumes that’s normal and fine. A MUST VISIT Yoga Studio... I took a 6:30 pm class with Nicole. She was super zen and encouraging. I am super non-flexible but she was accomodating with a yoga block and strap to reach hard parts. At the end we had a sound bath, aroma therapy sprayed on us and beautiful affirmation talk down. The place has such a spiritual feel, there's this Alamo AKA Kopo tree that is at front in center outside the studio. It the focal point behind the yoga instructor.
