Nice modern hotel just steps from 5th Avenue. It got loud at night, especially on the weekends, with all the surrounding hotels and clubs blasting music. It's also off a busy road so if you are staying at the front of the hotel be prepared for lots of noise. I came prepared for the noise and already knew what to expect.
The lobby is spacious, bright, and beautiful and the staff is gracious and helpful. There is a line of computers you can use to the right and to the left is an onsite bar and restaurant. There is wifi throughout the hotel and in the rooms. The 4th floor is their rooftop bar, 2 beautiful lap pools overlooking the city, and plenty of comfy furniture and lounge beds with pillows. We took advantage of one of the beds while waiting for our room after a red eye flight and fell asleep. Unfortunately the wood canopy they have built to help protect you from the sun has slats in it that led to us receiving some awkward sunburns. I would recommend they put fans up there cause it was hotter than hell and along with us the bartenders were sweating like crazy!
The room we had on the first floor was right across from the garden, which was lovely and the whole hotel is open and airy. The room was spacious, had a large flat screen tv, 2 comfy beds, a desk and chair, drawers, a closet with a safe and ironing equipment. Unfortunately, no fridge. There was a glass balcony, but no chairs and the door didn't lock. The bathroom is a little quirky with not much privacy. The sink and shower/toilet is separated by a frosted glass door with no lock and about a 3/4 inch crack between the door and the wall. So if the other person or persons in the room went to the sink or the closet they could see you. The shower was roomy and had one of those big shower heads that streams from the middle top of the ceiling, but there is a significant slant in the floor to drain the water and it hurt my feet to stand like that. The shower is also frosted glass that shows into the room. It's nice for getting natural light during the day but not so nice for privacy. One thing I didn't notice before is the floor to ceiling mirror next to one of the beds slides over to cover the shower glass for more privacy--didn't know that until we were getting ready to checkout. Also the air conditioner automatically turns off when you leave the room, so when you are hot and sweaty walking around Playa don't expect to come back to a cold room cause it will be warm and stuffy! Thankfully it doesn't take long to cool down and I understand they do it to conserve energy. They gave us complimentary water bottles and replenished them daily along with a large bottle that can be bought for extra.
This hotel is cheap, well under a hundred bucks a night, and is really magnificent for that price. You would never find a hotel in the States at that cost for everything you get here. It is only about a 5 minute walk to the beach where you can take advantage of the various beach clubs if you wish. Overall, I highly recommend it here and we wouldn't hesitate...
Read moreMy first experience with them has been terrible. I booked a room on their website after struggling through it. Apparently I had booked a non-refundable rate. A few moments later, while navigating the site, I saw a better rate for the same room - I thought maybe they have dynamic pricing at work. So I called customer service and asked them if they could cancel my reservation so I could rebook with the better rate. The polite agent said that he was happy to do so, and assured me that I'd receive a confirmation email in the morning. He said I was good to go and rebook. He said "not to worry. there will be no charges".. So I went ahead and booked a new reservation. Only, I made a mistake in the date. Terrified, I called them up again, right away, within moments. I requested that they fix the date of arrival for my new reservation or simply cancel it so I could make another one. ||||I learnt that 1) my original reservation was still active/ had not been canceled, and 2) they would not cancel or change the new reservation because that rate was non-refundable. ||||Having traveled all over the world with all hotel chains, this is truly the worst customer experience -- I haven't even reached there yet - but looks like I will be paying for a full week (approx 1200 USD) for an erroneous booking. Might have to resort to disputing charges and reporting them for fraud, but they're in Mexico, so who knows. Granted, I made a mistake in booking, but that is what customer service is about. ||||Being a public company, they can get away with this. The property itself might be nice, but do yourself a favor and book elsewhere maybe or quadruple check your bookings. The website makes is hard for non-spanish speakers to navigate. ||||Btw, they don't declare that you can get their "special" rates with free changes by simply creating a login. So if you really must stay here, create a login, and then you get their "non refundable" cheaper rates, only with full...
Read morestayed at this hotel for 2 nights, one night we booked our selves the other night had been booked by a tour we were joining. When we arrived, we explained that we had 2 rooms booked separately and that we would prefer to not have to move rooms. We were showed an invoice for each room and advised if we wanted to stay in one room for 2 nights that we would need to upgrade to the tour booked room, we agreed to this and were shown to our room. The room was on the 1st floor on the back of the hotel, it had a lounge area, but no outside windows or space, the only natural light coming into the room was through a strip of skylight in the ceiling. Also the room was exceptionally noisy, there was a loud dragging noise through out the night, this was accompanied by a very loud noise that can only be described as sounding like an aircraft taking off. If we had chosen to stay in the cheaper room we would have been on the front of the hotel with a balcony and patio door, so not quite sure how the room we were sold was an upgrade. This also happened to another couple who were booked on the same tour. The differences of the rooms were never explained to us and this was not a language problem as my daughter speaks fluent Spanish. |The hotel pool was very nice, but appeared to have only 2 parasols and the weather was extremely hot. Breakfast was a buffet which had lots of choice. The location of the Hotel is...
