We stayed in this hotel for five nights in mid-June. It is a modern, multi-storey block built in 2019, with four stories of rooms and two stories given over to reception, bar, restaurants and coffee shop at the lower levels. Above the hotel rooms are several floors of residences. It has 32 rooms and is conveniently located just off the seafront road. Presently it is in a semi-pedestrianised precinct amidst building work (but then so is much of Budva!). We used a transfer arranged by the hotel from Tivat Airport. The local bus station for intercity buses is about a 15 minute walk away – without luggage (and is much the same in Tivat – 1.5km from the airport/city). A taxi will cost €40-50.00 each way. The hotel has its own, chargeable underground car park. |The reception area is frankly, tiny, but operates very efficiently. It is adjacent to a small soft seating area and precedes entry to the bar and restaurant. Beyond the restaurant is an outside terrace also used for dining. Next to this – and accessible from the street – is a coffee and cake shop. On the first floor there is a breakfast room which may double as another restaurant – but not while we were there – also with outside seating. There is another small bar at this level. |We believe all rooms available in the hotel are small suites. Some are slightly larger than others and ours – on the top floor of the hotel - was one of the smaller ones but we had a comfortable sitting area as well as a generously sized separate bedroom with plenty of cupboard space. The sitting area had a sofa, coffee table and soft footstools as well as access to a small balcony. Our balcony had a side - but expansive - view of the sea and looked towards the old town. The bed was queen sized but comfortable. The duvet could have been larger than an exact match to the bedsize! Otherwise linen was of good quality and changed regularly. The bedroom had a built-in dressing table and access to the balcony. The bathroom had a shower cubicle and again plenty of storage. Towels were large and soft and toiletries excellent. Air-con was extremely efficient and wifi quite acceptable. There was a safe, a fridge, and tea and coffee making facilities.|We experienced no noise from within the hotel. When doors and windows were closed there was no noise from any building works outside of normal working hours. But, the seafront road did sometimes encourage unsilenced vehicles. |Breakfast was taken in the first floor room and is a buffet of limited extent especially for vegetarians. That said it was good quality and plentiful, it was regularly replenished. The ground floor restaurant and terrace was used during our stay for both lunch and dinner. Each was on table service with dinner times having live music. Again choice was not wide for vegetarians, but quality was high, portions were generous and attention and service beyond reproach. The only concern we had was that the terrace opens onto the street and understandably the hotel has non-resident diners. The bar was acceptable if expensive for wine. There are innumerable other eating places close by ranging across all tastes and to suit most pockets. Bars and eating establishments line the esplanade. The hotel coffee shop – which is just behind the restaurant - also serves gelato and is excellent. Throughout staff were professional and efficient. Reception was helpful at pointing the way to trips out of Budva. We are unaware if the hotel has any rooms suitable for guests with disabilities. Although this is a hotel in a resort area, we did not see any tour groups in residence during our stay, but its location and quality would be appealing to any major package tour operator. This hotel exceeds expectations for a tourist resort. For us it fully justified its cost and fully deserves its four...
Read moreMan, Budva is busy!! The infrastructure is not for there for the thousands of tourists and their cars. The whole place stinks in the afternoons from the drains running parallel to the main street along the beach. There are building sites both live and abandoned littering the town. In the middle of all the chaos, stands Hotel Fontana. It is clean and peaceful. ||The hotel stands a little back from the main tourist route so benefits from less noise and chaos. It is still right in the middle of all the action and a 5 mins walk to the Old Town or the sea.||The building is high but the hotel takes up only the bottom 4 floors. There is an underground car park. All the public areas of the hotel were very well maintained. The restaurant was spotless. We ate there twice during our stay. The food was very good as was the service. There was a saxophonist playing every evening. Breakfast was also very good. There was a wide variety. It would have been nice if we had fresh brewed coffee instead of a machine. ||We stayed in one of the suites with sea view. Again, very clean and modern. The sitting room and bedroom were separated by the hall and could be closed off. The AC was excellent, one in each room. There were also 2 TVs. Not many English speaking channels however. The wifi was ok. Our children complained of being kicked off now and again. We did suffer from the very hard pillows provided and also the really small duvet for the double bed. There is a small balcony with good views. We used it mainly to dry our swimming costume. The view from the rooms was good but somewhat compromised by Hotel Budva in front and the huge building site to the right.||The bathroom very clean and modern with plenty of toiletries provided. We were not keen on the strong smells from the bathroom drains in the afternoons. The infrastructure of Budva really needs improving. One piece of advice, leave the hot water button on or you will run out for your shower.||Housekeeping was good and completed every day. The room was always mopped and cleaned to a high standard. Reception was excellent and goes out of their way to make your stay a good one. They will order taxis and recommend good boat tours for your. The manager / owner always hovers around reception or the restaurant and made sure everything...
Read moreI was staying in Fontana Residence Budva at Fontana Hotel (it belongs to another owner). Hotel was actually great (location and ambience). But the apartment I was staying was terrible (not the room but the host). ||1) came early at 11-12plus but understand apartment will be ready only from 130pm-2pm. That's fine. So we went to lunch nearby. However, at about 1pm, host suddenly text us (few times) requesting us to come back (in 15 minutes). Luckily we were nearby so quickly rushed back.||2) whatsapped host on apartment questions, typed in both English and Serbian as she was more comfortable in Serbian, (as hotel staff will redirect them to host. Fair enough as it does not belong to hotel). Eventually host told us not to bother her (she later deleted the message which I failed to screenshot).||3) host tried to justify review but saying person in contact is staff not host and I did not contact host for the problems. Also claimed staff came at 1pm as a favour but I misused (which is a strong accusation). |- firstly: how would I as an outsider know if the person is a host/guest (is not written anywhere on them or in any of our online conversations. There was no introduction too)||- secondly: we never demand to check in before 130pm nor request for their staff to come down early and check us in. If she wants to come early, at least inform us prior her arrival instead of rushing us and demanding us to return in 15mins.||Unfortunately, I could not share the whatsapp screenshots on reservation platform due to their T&Cs. If I could share it here, I would. Our whatsapp messages are solid claims on what really happened and host decided to brush it off and blame the customer instead. ||Fontana Hotel is great (the 2 stars are strictly for them) but avoid the Fontana Residence Budva (at level 8) instead. Host and staff's attitude really spoilt...
