For starters, they made us wait until 3pm to check into a room right next to the rooftop lounge/bar. We were up until the early hours every single night due to the loud banging and music coming straight through the walls. Having a room next to something so noisy and making people pay is ridiculous. ||If you need anything you have to call reception atleast 3 times. On multiple occasions we had to call down to reception because they forgot to give us towels, including the first night. We had to call down 3 times just to get a towel sent up which took almost half an hour. ||There are no lights on in the corridors, even at night. We have to walk to our room right at the end with phone torches.||The bathroom smells funny and the shower has a thick bleach smell. There is also mould growing above the shower.||The rooms and out dated and don’t match the picture on the website. We felt very much scammed. The AC doesn’t work properly and is old and the bedroom doesn’t look or feel clean, especially the floor.||The pool was nice, but I cut my toe on something sharp mid swim. I quickly realised that it doesn’t get cleaned properly. There is debris floating around the bottom that remained there for my entire weeks stay. This also included old broken tiles that had come off the pool floor and walls (probably what I cut myself on). There were bags, tissue, bugs (dead and alive) and bottle caps floating around the bottom. From the pool area and atrium the hotel looks beatiful but the private spaces really aren’t. ||The restaurant isn’t great. The food is average, and breakfast is not worth waking up for. There is a minimum options of fruit, cheese, bread and a few pastries. If you’re paying for bed and breakfast, you would expect a lot more from a 4* hotel.||On our last night we decided to eat dinner at the hotel for convenience. I asked if they did pina coladas as they weren’t on the menu. The staff said “yes we can make that”. I asked to have one with alcohol and one virgin for my friend who is Muslim. The waiter placed the drinks down on the table identifying which one was “virgin”. It didn’t taste like there was any alcohol in mine. I double checked with the waiter and he confirmed that mine had alcohol and asked if I wanted more which I said yes to. Another member of staff came out with the entire bottle of rum and a “measurer” (a shot glass from a souvenir shop). He asked why I thought it wasn’t strong when all that was in it was pineapple juice and coconut, basically saying that both drinks were virgin. After his theatrics and clear frustration from almost every single staff member we decided to just finish our food and get the bill. ||Asides from all the negatives, the female staff were amazing and went above and beyond. The cleaners, nighttime receptionists, breakfast host and night time waiter. Some of the male pool staff in the morning were also lovely. Will not be booking this hotel again or recommending for that matter. I’ve stayed at dozens of hotels over the years and this is definitely a 2/3* hotel at max, disguised with a pretty...
Read moreOur stay at BorjS Hotel had both positive and challenging aspects. On arrival, we were impressed by the hotel’s beautiful appearance, and our 2nd-floor room, with a view of both the pool and the sea, was lovely. However, after our first night, we encountered a significant issue: the rooftop bar directly above our room played music until at least 2am, with a bass level comparable to a boy racer’s car.
After struggling with limited sleep for four nights, we requested a room change. When visiting the bar ourselves, we found it to be a large venue popular with locals, particularly for shisha. While it may not bother all guests, we found the atmosphere a little intimidating, especially for women and first-time visitors to the hotel.
Breakfast was a bit chaotic, so future guests should prepare accordingly. Items like cups, bowls, and plates often ran out, and we had to request milk and hot water regularly. If you enjoy hot food in the morning, be sure to ask about your options, as they aren’t openly advertised. The food quality was average, so it’s best not to set your expectations too high.
The pool facilities were good, and the staff were generally friendly and helpful. However, we did have to request fresh towels daily, as they were often forgotten, but the rooms were cleaned and made up each day without issue.
Although BorjS Hotel is rated 4 stars, I personally would give it 3 stars based on the overall experience. While the hotel may have the facilities to meet a 4-star rating, the quality of service and amenities felt closer to that of a 3-star establishment.
For the price we paid (£840 for 10 nights including flights and breakfast), it was reasonable value for money, but there’s definitely room for improvement.
Dining Tips: For food, I highly recommend exploring the local area. The nearby restaurants are excellent, with a meal for two costing between 350-500DhS. Some standout recommendations include:
Pure Passion La Maresque (our personal favourite, with a beautiful interior) Le Tapis Rouge Jardin d'Eau There are plenty of other great spots in the area, and the service and food were consistently impressive.
ATM Tip: Avoid the ATM directly outside the hotel, as it charges a variable percentage fee on top of your withdrawal. Instead, head to the ATM just down the road to the left as you leave the hotel, which currently charges 33DhS per withdrawal. Alternatively, the Central Bank of Morocco in town charges 22DhS, so it’s worth withdrawing larger amounts to reduce fees.
Day Trip Tip: For booking day trips, whether in Morocco or elsewhere, I highly recommend the GetYourGuide app. It allows you to book securely, read reviews, and avoid pressure from local salespeople.
Overall, BorjS Hotel offers a decent experience for the price, but be aware of the potential noise from the rooftop bar and plan ahead...
Read moreAn enchantingly beautiful, warm, friendly establishment that I am very lucky to have chosen for my stay. We have never been to Agadir before, and we didn't really know what to expect, but as soon as we arrived all we kept saying was "I'm so glad we picked this hotel!!!" because it is really a gorgeous place! It also has everything you could need and more, including a rooftop bar!! Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly porter who offered us Moroccan tea and all the cookies we could eat, which was lovely after the long flight. We booked a double room with sea view, and oh my was it heavenly!!! Once we got in, we went out into our balcony and were blown away by the amazing view of the pool as well as the iconic mountain. But it's not just that, it was the ambiance created by the hotel and the staff's friendly, sweet demeanour. There was often lovely ambient music playing outside, just the right type of music to suit the mood of the place. Incredibly romantic!! And they put on Moroccan lanterns around the property and restaurant. It really gives you that classic Moroccan design you want in your experience. And there was always somebody offering to help whether it was for towels or to walk us to the ATM to take out money. They also weren't pushy at all about tips, but they truly deserve to be tipped properly, as they are so very helpful and kind!!! They were able to arrange tours and taxis for whatever we needed. About the room, it was really perfect! There's a combo AC/heater so you could control the temperature in the room exactly to your preference. And there was a mini fridge!! Something I wasn't sure would be available, but it was indeed! There was also a safe, large closet, and very large bathroom! Plus a tv with tons of international channels, and desk/chair, as well as the lovely balcony! We really enjoyed having tea out there. The beach is very close to the property and I personally did not mind that it wasn't situated immediately next to the beach! Barely noticed! Feels close enough to be comfortable and plus it's more peaceful in the area where it is situated. The area is very peaceful, safe, comfortable and easily walkable. 100% I will go back to Borjs hotel!!! Thank you for making our...
