A very picturesque and traditional hotel, very central, in the heart of the Medina, only about 4 mins walk from the Corniche, car park and taxi rank, and about the same distance from the central mosque and the "Petit Socco" area, full of restaurants and shops. Perfect location.
The common areas are well maintained and well decorated. The ground floor is where breakfast is served, at the table. It feels a bit dark to sit there when you know the sun is shining outside but you can ask for your breakfast to be placed on a tray so you can take it to the terrasse and eat there if you want, which we really enjoyed doing. The view is gorgeous from the rooftop terrace all the way to Tangier bay, it's a pleasant terrace on two levels, with good shade if desired.
The host and reception staff (Younes and Mohammed) were very welcoming and helpful, Younes speaks several languages fluently, the ladies are also very nice and helpful. They all did their utmost to make our stay comfortable.
The pick up from the airport is arranged for you by the hotel and is free. The driver was on time waiting for us, even though we were delayed by 1h30 late in the evening, the driver also kindly walked us all the way to the hotel which we really appreciated. To get back to the airport, the easiest is to walk to the car park near the hotel on the corniche and grab an official taxi at the taxi rank. The hotel can also arrange for a car to take you but it's more expensive and ours was late so after 15 mins of wait and no news, we left to find a taxi ourselves as we were worried we were going to be late.
There's a water dispenser for cold and hot water, which I was happy about, as I like to have a cup of tea in the evening and there's no kettle in the bedroom. The staircases are very narrow and the stairs rather steep, not suitable for anyone with limiting mobility issues.
Our room (on the top, 3rd floor) with its entrance on the lower terrace was OK, it was very quiet, as it was separated from the inner courtyard of the hotel. We were given the choice between two rooms when we arrived, the top one, which we chose, or one on the 2nd floor, which was tiny without window to the outside, only onto the inner courtyard (with has a glass roof so very little air from outside, and where any noise from the ground floor can be heard). Not for the claustrophobic or light-sleeper!
In the room, the AC was efficient and not too noisy. The shower was powerful even in our room at the top, with very hot water throughout, but depending on the time of day, you might need to wait a couple of minutes for the hot water to come through. Persevere, it will come! The mattresses and pillows were very firm, which we personally like. We slept very well. There were shelves, a suitcase rack, a mirror and a small table with a stool, ceiling lights and bedside lamps and a small bedside table.
There were a few negatives about the room itself hence only 4 stars not 5: the room was rather small, with two separate beds which couldn't be put together fully due to the shape of the back wall. There was a constant musty smell in the shower room (it seemed to be coming from the shower curtain which had black stains at the bottom), thankfully it had a window to the outside so we kept it open as much as possible. There's no wardrobe (no space for it) and only a couple of hooks, so we had to leave most of our clothes in the suitcase. We gave them a few clothes to wash and they took two whole days to come back.
All in all we enjoyed our 7-night stay there, the hotel had a lot of charm, with excellent location, and we were very well taken care of.

Read moreWasn't amazing, wasn't horrible. |Chose this place based on price and looking like it was quite traditionally Moroccon, it did have some traditional features but the overall vibe was dark and damp. |It is quite difficult to find in the Medina and down a sketchy alley that looks like it needs repairs. I think the hotel could do more to help guests find the hotel. Either meet them at the Medina gate or provide a map ect|Upon checkin, the lady was friendly but didn't speak any English, couldn't give any information about the property or breakfast and was extremely slow. I had been travelling for 50 hours, it was midnight and I just wanted to get to my room- yet she took so long with my passport ect, in the end I had to ask to come back later. |Was then quite hard to get to sleep as the stained glass window had no blind and an internal light just shone through and the place itself was extremely noisy. Even so late at night. Then when breakfast was being prepared every noise could be heard from my room. |Room itself was clean and neat and tidy. It did feel damp & dark without an outside window. Sheets were clean. Daily housekeeping was great. I did put in some laundry with the male host that could speak English but then he was nowhere to be seen to collect it and the young girl had no idea what was happening, and I was checking out, so wasn't sure I was going to get it back. |Bathroom could have been cleaner, and the shower just shot out over the toilet and flooded the bathroom - something should probably be done at that one, as you cant leave any toiletries in the bathroom that you dont want to get wet. |Breakfast was really good, traditional Moroccon foods and an array of juices and tea. I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and good quality food. Just wish the breakfast was a little earlier for those going out on day trips.|If you can find somewhere else for the same price I'd go elsewhere but if you want a budget place, and this is the cheapest its ok for a one or two night stay and make sure you make time for the...
Read moreAs soon as you enter the room you smell and feel the humidity and mold. The ceiling and bathroom are full of mold spots. You can even feel the humidity in the bedding. It's so bad I couldn't sleep.
There are no windows to the outside and therefore a lack of ventilation. There was only a small window that opens to the hall. So others can look inside. There is no curtain in front of that window, so the light from the hall keeps you awake at night.
In the morning I saw a small cockroach in the room. Luckily just before my departure.
The bathroom is tiny. The toilet is right in front of the sink and the shower curtain hangs 40cm from the wall.
The hotel is full of cameras. Big brother is watching you. Like a prison.
At the end of our stay they charged us a city tax, 3 euro per person per night. We found that very strange. On our booking was meantionned that the city tax was included in the price. And in other hotels they charge the city tax at arrival, not at departure.
The price is too high for this hotel.
The hotel is very well located in the old center. Breakfast is ok. Enough choice. There's a nice rooftop terrace, but when the weather is bad, there's not really a place to sit and relax inside.
Official fixed prices of taxis to the airport are: 100 dirham from 5.30 untill 22.30, 150 dirham from 22.30 to 5.30. No need to book in advance. Plenty of taxis...
