I first went see out a new restaurant, Le Salon Bleu, after it first opened about ten years ago.
I was curious because someone I once knew, an Englishman from London, had owned the small Kasbah house accessed through a small alleyway off upper Rue Amrah just below the archway entrance near York Castle. My friend’s house was sold after his death and renovated and transformed by the purchaser, the owners of Dar Nour guest house, into Le Salon Bleu restaurant.
There were and still are unbeatable views of the beach, the Strait of Gibraltar and southern Spain from its rooftop terrace. And from my friend’s small sun-filled salon there was a panoramic view of the Place de la Kasbah.
I am delighted that the house has been tastefully transformed into one of the more interesting places to eat in all of Tangier, best reserved for a special occasion and a sunny day. You can clearly see the Spanish coast and mountains of Andalucía.
The chefs at Le Salon Bleu know how to prepare a delicious meal with the freshest of ingredients whether it be a soup, salad, fish, chicken or beef. The atmosphere at Salon Bleu is delightful and relaxing, and the food is good and...

Read morePositives : Great view, if you get an outside table. From what I gathered, people had a long wait to get one. Négatives : Absolutly worst couscous I have had in Morocco, and, I have spent the last two months touring the country ! Couscous grain was dry, and with literally one half à carrot and à half à courgette on top, so you would think veggies here cost à fortune. They don't ! Service was awful, we asked several times for couscous sauce to try to make the couscous grain more édible. It never came. And all this for a price, as high as a great couscous restaurant in Paris. Conclusion : à real tourist trap stay away ! Highly recommend Café and Restaurant Popular instead, also in the Medina. Looks like nothing spécial, we hesitated, but delicious food, at half the price. And super friendly...
