So I feel a bit bad about writing this review, but I promise it’s an honest as I can make it without embellishing the facts. This is based on 2 couples visiting in august 2022. When we found this restaurant we were totally in love… it’s hidden from the fierce heat of the day, and you’re away from the bustle of the many market holders. It looks beautifully Moroccan and just tempted us in. The food is all prepared from scratch and took ages to come, but we liked that. You got a feel of quality home cooking. The waiter brought us a selection of olives and bread for free as we waited. This Is certainly an instagramable restaurant. Why only 3 stars? The food portions were tiny. And quite expensive for Morocco. I had the mixed skewers which were like childrens fingers, and a portion of rice which was smaller than an egg cup. The Moroccan salad was just onion and tomato which was slightly disappointing. I think this restaurant has been hit by Covid and they have made portions smaller for more money. The quality of the food was good, but just very small. Almost a starter size. This isn’t a greedy Brit expecting a tonne of food, but a fair reflection of the size. Have a fun trip...

This was our first real meal in Tangier. I am not sure how other restaurants can compete. The atmosphere, the service, the food, everything was amazing. Youssef was our server. I believe he was also the manager. He was extremely kind, personable, helpful, and accommodating. The entire staff followed suit. The appetizer was a plate with three separate marinated dishes and a hot paste. The plate included olives, carrots, and beets. We enjoyed it. I also had a mixed salad (potatoes, onions, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, tuna, and mixed lettuce). I asked that they not include the tomatoes. Additionally, I did not hear him mention potatoes. When it arrived, my wife ate the tomatoes, and I moved the potatoes to the side. When Youssef realized the kitchen's error, I told him it was fine. He asked if it was a preference or an allergy. When I told him it was an allergy, he insisted and removed the plate. I appreciated his attentiveness and how quickly he removed the plate. The replacement was different, yet perfect. It had rice, lettuce, cauliflower, carrots, tuna, onions, and cucumbers. I loved it. I also had the swordfish tajine. My wife had the vegetable tajine. Everything...

Authentic Moroccan Experience in the Heart of the Medina

I had the pleasure of dining at a traditional Moroccan restaurant tucked away in the Medina, and it was an unforgettable experience. The food was absolutely incredible — rich in flavor, beautifully presented, and truly authentic. Every dish, from the tagine to the couscous, was made with care and bursting with spices that transported us right into the heart of Moroccan culture.

What truly made the experience exceptional, though, was the service. Yusuf went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. His warmth, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality were unmatched. He took the time to explain the dishes, shared local insights, and made sure we were comfortable throughout. It’s rare to encounter service this thoughtful — Yusuf is a true gem.

Highly recommend for anyone looking to experience real Moroccan cuisine with five-star service. Don't miss this hidden treasure...

After a disappointing experience at "Aux 3 Portes" this morning—an establishment that pretends to be more than it truly is—we ended up here in the evening because we were craving couscous. What a difference in attitude. It just goes to show that it’s all about intention, not appearances. When something looks good on the outside but is empty on the inside, you’re bound to be disappointed. Here, we enjoyed the warm and genuine service of Moroccan hosts. A fantastic berad (teapot) of mint tea with a special blend. No drugs or anything like that—haha! Then came the main course: an exquisite couscous. The only downside was that it wasn’t enough—we wanted more! It’s not easy to find this place in the maze of the medina, but definitely worth the search. Special thanks to waiter from Fes.

To begin with, the restaurant was loud and crowded with minimal space to sit comfortably with people always bustling by. They chose to blast music from a tv with so called ‘Moroccan classics’ that sounded ai generated and horribly bland. The food itself took from 45 mins to an hour to arrive, even after several complaints of the long wait time to the waitstaff. On the topic of waitstaff, they were severely understaffed and going on smoke breaks next to our table. Although the food was good (we ordered chicken and lamb skewers, a Moroccan salad and calamari - the chicken skewers being the highlight) it was not worth the wait. Overall this was a clever tourist trap that we are ashamed to have fallen for and will definitely not be returning to.
