Dar El Hayet — Hotel in arrondissement de Tanger-Medina طنجة المدينة

Fantastic find. Very close to the ferry. We walked with our backpacks up, past the city wall. When you get to the 'intersection' with Rue Bibane, look for the sign for Rue Oued Kerman. Go past it to the right (if looking uphill), a little zig zag, and keep going around a bend. Currently it's past a big empty lot. No other identifying signs. Though a big sign at the top entrance indicates you are close to this wonderful guest house. Great staff, welcoming in multiple languages, seeking to orient you without pushing anything on you. I decided to edit my review, after my 11 days in Morocco. Of all the hosts, I enjoyed these hosts the most. They were the most attentive and communicative, even though I stayed in some fancier places. They were more real and authentic. Though it wasn't a Riad with an internal courtyard, the roof decks are at the top of the hill and makes for great sunrises and sunsets. It's a basic room, which is perfect...

In the old Medina. Great rooftop terrace with views of the bay & city. Welcome you up there with Moroccan Mint tea. Breakfast there for 4€ pp. Jamal & Mohamed were great hosts. Both spoke English & Jamal spoke Spanish as well. Got me a hair dryer when I asked. They recommended a lovely restaurant (La Terasse de La Medina) for dinner & ordered us a taxi to take us to the train station (100 Dinhar), which came almost to the hotel. Nice Decor. Good value. Would stay again.

The lighting was very low, hard for old eyes. The bed had two pads on it which created a bit of a dip in the center, which made it very uncomfortable for me. Perhaps a single, larger pad that covers the entire bed...

They welcomed us and were attentive and kind to us at all times, answering all our questions and helping us to discover the city with their interesting recommendations. Regarding the facilities, the bed could be improved. They have a panoramic terrace overlooking Tangier from which you can relax or taste their typical Moroccan dishes! It is very worthwhile. The service from Jamal and Mohammed is second to none. They made us feel welcome and made our experience in Tangier unforgettable. I would 100% recommend stopping by Dar el Hayet during your stay in Tangier and meeting their team. Con respecto a las instalaciones, la cama es mejorable. Tienen una terraza panorámica de Tanger desde la que poder relajarte o degustar sus platos típicos marroquís! Merece mucho la pena. El servicio de Jamal y Mohammed es insuperable. Nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos e hicieron que nuestra experiencia en Tánger fuera inolvidable.
