What an incredible, incredible riad. (I'm going to write my comment in English in the hopes that many more visitors discover this amazing place!)
Where to begin? My partner and I stayed at the riad for five days and four nights. The riad is absolutely stunning. Unlike many hotels I’ve stayed in in the past, the photos online truthfully depict the interior, and to be fair, it’s even more beautiful in person. It’s ideally located, although hidden in a calm backstreet, it’s a stone’s throw from the Jemaa el-Fnaa marketplace and all of the major tourist attractions.
Amongst the abundant positives the riad has to offer, my partner and I both agreed that the staff is at the top of the list. Every employee was amazing. They were all adorable, welcoming, accommodating, and made us feel at home very quickly. They offered numerous suggestions for us to fully enjoy the city, and answered the various questions we had concerning our stay, making our experience genuinely unforgettable. The cleaning staff do an utterly fantastic job - the bedrooms were always impeccable. The chef offered a copious breakfast every morning composed of fresh produce which is included in the price, which is rare nowadays, yet so very much appreciated for those on a budget. We also enjoyed a meal she had prepared in the evening, and it was delicious. The riad has a spa so we both booked massages. The massage therapist was so sweet and we felt completely relaxed after it. Hands down the best team I’ve ever encountered. The riad also offers a variety of excursions. We booked one outside of the city and it was an incredible experience with a brilliant guide.
If you come in the Summer, the pool is such a plus! We would spend the day exploring and would come back to soak our feet to cool down. Our bedroom had aircon, which was very useful for the 40+ degrees outside. And as mentioned earlier, since it’s in a backstreet, the calmness provided the perfect break from the busy city when needed!
The only thing we didn’t enjoy as much was maybe some of the fellow tourists who arrived at the end of our stay who weren’t particularly mindful of the other visitors and the staff (on the contrary to those present when we arrived and present the first couple of days). Since the riad is quite small and intimate, they seemed to take up a lot of space and any impolite behavior was more noticeable. But this of course isn’t the team’s fault and it goes without saying that other tourists are inevitable, but if you do plan on staying here, please don’t be that type of tourist - this is definitely not the place to do so! The team is wonderful, and deserve to be treated as respectfully as they treat you! And remember there are other visitors are on holiday too! I feel like this is a better riad for couples rather than families (especially with small children) given its relaxed and romantic ambiance, its size, and its facilities.
Apart from the point stated above, it was the perfect getaway and we absolutely loved our stay here. So, if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Marrakech that is close to all the city’s major must-sees, but also want a place to relax or take a break from the hustle and bustle, this is definitely the place to be. I would recommend it without hesitation and we miss it already. Thank you to whole Rihani team - don’t...
Read moreAn absolutely fantastic experience to stay here that I can't recommend enough to anyone looking for an authentic stay in Marrakech. Don't stay in a hotel. Staying here felt like a wealthy person lent you their mansion to stay in, with all the luxuries that come with it and a group of fantastic staff to make you feel at home and taken care of. Really felt more like being guests than customers. The place feels homy, luxurious, calm and welcoming. The interior design and overall architecture of this property and the rooms is just beautiful, tasteful and with great attention to detail. Staff is absolutely exceptional, friendly and genuine. They were also really flexible, e.g. serving breakfast way before breakfast time and dinner long after the kitchen was supposed to be closed as we went out on day trips. The manager Sofia is very friendly, professional and accommodating. She was always reachable by WhatsApp and offering good local tips. She was also very observant and customer-oriented: the day after we had checked in she proactively offered to upgrade us to a suite because she noticed that I am very tall and the ceiling in the shower may be a bit too low for me (which was true). We spent the rest of the stay in the upgraded suite which was very nice. Both concierges were also outstanding. Helpful, kind and interesting to talk to. When we came back late for dinner (10pm) Mohammed had set the dinner table in the center of the dining room, decorated it with flower petals, logs of wood burning in the fire place and music playing while serving us a delicious authentic Moroccan dinner. Through the curtain we could look out into the courtyard and the pool which was lined with candles. A really magical and unique dining experience that once again felt more like being at someone's home than an accomodation. Everyone had a genuine and warm smile. The Hammam experience was also great, the whole spa downstairs overall is very well and tastefully designed, creating a relaxing atmosphere. Food was great and cooked with lots of love by the talented chef. Location is very convenient and close to the hustle and bustle yet very quiet Plenty of spaces to chill out. If not in your room, you can chill by the pool, in the rooftop cabanas, the library, a second little courtyard or the beautiful dining room Only complaint if I were to look for one is that the WiFi could be improved. We didn't have good reception in the room and even in the common area it didn't always work well. I don't need to use the internet much when on holiday but it's needed here and there to...
Read moreLe Rihani was such a special find. A lovely, serene place tucked away on a quiet side street but right near the action. With its 10 rooms, it was almost like staying at a friend's luxurious home. I felt so peaceful there that I did not want to leave!||Location: The perfect location halfway between the Jemaa el-Fnaa and the Bahia Palace. They will send a car for you but if you want to go yourself, just opposite the Patisserie Corne de Gazelle, duck under the the leather purse covered arch into what looks like a tunnel. First left. Quick left and then right at the first wall. Then it is the last door on the left when you hit the next T :)||Staff: Very friendly and took wonderful care of us, especially Sofia in the office. She was very accessible by What's App, which was important given our connecting flight was delayed by 5 hours!||Rooms: We stayed in the Family Suite Ayla with our two college and high school aged kids. The suite had three spaces: you enter via a small niche with a twin, proceed to a larger room with a queen, through a hallway with doors to the toilet room and the sink/shower room and into the back room with a queen. It was perfect for us. Beds were firm but comfortable. Shower was spacious. Double sinks convenient (though too shallow to do laundry in).||Food: The food was delicious. I miss those breakfasts - each morning, a different type of Moroccan bread/pancake, a different (sweet) quick bread, honey, jam, cheese and fruit. Eggs available upon request. We had dinner there 2 of our 4 nights. Normally we want to go somewhere different every day, but the food was delicious and the poolside table so nice, we had to stay in for dinner our last night.||Downsides: We loved, loved, loved Le Rihani, and I personally am heading straight back if I ever go to Marrakech again, but just two notes. (1) The stairs to our room were particularly steep and tight. I wouldn't want to carry a child up them. Would have been hard for someone a little unsure on their feet or someone with large frame. (2) Bathroom also very tight - not the best for someone with a...
